Toki Italian Inspired serves – you guessed correctly – Italian cuisine. But this isn’t just any Italian food. Toki specialises in contemporary offerings that are open to change, and rather than serving a boring dish that sticks to a certain formula, they offer specialities that have been influenced by other cultures and world cuisines, creating a truly modern dining experience. The restaurant is open six days a week from Monday to Saturday and can be found on Darlinghurst’s Flinders Street, not far from Central station.

Chef Toki and his wife Cherry are the owners of Toki Italian Inspired, and at their Darlinghurst restaurant, they fuse subtle Asian flavours into their modern Italian cuisine. The Sydney restaurant’s style is reflective of the cuisine – it’s modern and sophisticated, yet simple and straightforward. It’s family-friendly, too, and includes a great kids’ menu complete with spaghetti Bolognese and penne Napolitana to get them amped on Italian cuisine from a young age.

The pasta selection at Toki Italian Inspired on Sydney’s Flinders Street is simple and to the point. First, pick your pasta, then select from a long list of sauce and ingredient combinations such as pollo e avocado (grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and avocado in a cream sauce) or Toki’s Special, which includes prawns, fresh clams, calamari, white wine, olive oil, garlic confit, cherry tomato, wild rocket and chilli. Mains include a 200g Black Angus striploin steak, fish & chips and chicken schnitzel, among others. The menu is clearly labeled for diners with dietary restrictions, so bring your gluten-free and vegetarian friends along!
