Sarang was quite surprising. A small simple restaurant that delivered everything. At first expectations were low but it got better as we received the dishes. The restaurant is very small and cozy almost like you’re in a house dinning room. The owners are there and they make everything from taking orders, cooking and delivering food. The pace was smooth nothing was rushed or delayed we ate each plate at a time. We arrived at 6:30 and left around 8 pm. The menu is quite small which is a positive for me. Less options means the dishes are well executed and the ingredients are fresh. We end up choosing the set menu for $44 pp and a beer each. The menu started with a choice of tea, green or jasmine followed by a crispy tofu with a delicious dashi soy sauce and a kimchi pancake with a ponzu and sesame seeds sauce also amazing and flavorful. Next we got a salad with apples, some green leaves, carrots and a misô sauce, was good but nothing much. After that we got the fried chicken with sweet chilli and honey garlic soy sauces on the side, the chicken was super crispy and juicy not oily at all. After that we got the mains, each one of us ordered something different and we all got reasonable size portions some of us were full even before the mains. I got the spicy pork bulgogi it was really good and flavorful not super spicy which made it perfect with the mains we also got littles sides of kimchi, pickled Japanese turnip (I think) and a little apple salad with a sauce that I couldn’t figure it out. For dessert, we got a little scoop of raspberry and white chocolate ice cream and something that I think it was songpyeon (rice cake). It a very nice experience, definitely want to come back and check the other options.

We loved the Dak gang jeong with the fried rice cake coated with their hot & spicy sauce and korean beer to wash it down. Followed it with beef bulgogi and some soju for good measure.

My friend and I had a great time catching up at the restaurant. It was a Wednesday night so relatively quiet. Food was homely and yummy, definitely value for money. Comfortable enough to chat all night.
