First time diner and everyone really enjoyed the food and service. Will come again
Always very good. Good food, fast service, nice atmosphere. Great for friends and family gathering.
Excellent food and great service definitely will be going again
Maybe the music sound could be a bit lower in restaurant
We ordered two times of shshi and sashimi, but we haven‘t got it. We traced it and the waiter said they were many orders to make, we need to spend more time to wait the dishes. Finally, they gave us one dish. These made a bad feeling for me.
Seatings are so close and no general social distance. Very loud western pop songs don’t suit to Japanese restaurant. We can’t order 2 of the same meals at the same time which is very much nuisance and we have never have the same experience at any other Okami branches. Most meals are small and different from the images of the menu. (No sweet potato tempura) Noticed that one karaage was cut in two pieces to increase the number of portions.
Overall, it was good to try many dishes in one meal! The Potato Croquette, Soba noodles (sesame sauce has egg/dairy) , Mushroom salad and Red bean fish (might have egg?) were my favourite "plant-based" options. However, it was initially quite hard to get the waiters attention to order additional food. They were quite busy either serving new dishes or clearing empty dishes. This did improve later on when a female server came around asking each table if they wanted to order anymore. Having a smaller retail space meant that tables were quite close together. It is a bit of a Tetris challenge to fit numerous dishes on your table. There was also a large table of noisy blokes seated quite close to us. Not the restaurants fault really, but it made the atmosphere not so pleasant. Not long after paying and returning home, I had an upset stomach. Not sure if it was because of improperly prepared food or the fact that I consumed animal products during the meal (I had to try Green tea + Black Sesame ice-cream despite them containing dairy/cow's milk - very nice though!). Conclusion: Okami is probably great value for money for those who consume animal products (especially the beef options).
It's a nice dinner, friendly staff and great service, great food
Good service a d food good atmosphere great location. 👍
Cheap badly cooked food - very slow service. Tiny portions
Service was great. Friendly staff. Food nice and fresh. Overall a lovely experience
Decent restaurant food choice is alright but a little restricted on if you can just order one portion vs usual portion
Very noisy can’t hold a decent conversation with anyone other than the person beside you
No one can argue with the value for money of Okami. The Mount Waverley restaurant is only a few months old, but off to a great start. The food is very good (and of course plentiful) and now they have their liquor licence, there is a good choice of drinks as well. Very Happy!
Excellent service and great food. The restaurant is also set up well. Great for families.
Loved it all. Just want to say that as a hearing impaired person, I found the music too loud to be able to hear and converse easily with people on my table.
Food variety is limited - and can't order just sashimi
the food is good. the waitors work fast. the place is clean.
Very quick service and the restaurant is clean, price is cheap with no surcharge on Sunday makes our day
Food is a bit mediocre, particularly the beef dishes and takoyaki. The variety in each dish is substantially reduced when adjusted for fewer diners (I went with one other diner).
good value with good quality food. Enjoy the whole meal
Rapt to see restaurant closed between sittings and staff preparing for the final sitting by cleaning and resetting tables. Food was served hot, was very flavoursome and portions appropriate for a tasting. My only concern was that I noted a food allergy on my online booking but it wasn't mentioned until I raised it to verify an ingredient. Otherwise an exceptional experience. We'll be back.
average food quality and too much rice in sushi roll.
The food was delicious. Most of the staff were pleasant but one could not speak English. They ran out of sushi and we were waiting for over half an hour. We were not notified that there was no more sushi. We never received some of our food either.
My partner who is in a wheelchair, likes the forrnat and the food being brought to the table. Even though it is all you can eat. We like it but we feel the price is a bit high.
Excellent food. Attentive staff Comfortable seating. Liquor licence will be a welcome addition.
Opening night. Some mixing around of intended dish order - the miso soup wasn't delivered until not long before dessert.
Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We were a bit skeptical if it'll be chaotic since it's their grand opening night but turned out everything was so orderly done. So, kudos to the management & staffs. Food was good too. We will certainly return.
Was a wonderful time with family. Service staff are very accomodating
Good service, friendly staff, nice food, easy to find parking
