It was busy, being Valentine’s Day, but there was insufficient staff. Several of the staff were not experienced enough to deal with this many customers, the kitchen, serving and ordering staff were insufficient for the number of customers. If it had not been for two young female staff members the whole restaurant would have collapsed. I love Mornington Okami, but never again will I go on a Valentine’s Day. The absence of management and senior staff in the front of house was notable.

I'm aware it was busy the teraki beef tasted like burnt charcoal our cold starters came last. No water on our table after asking 3 times I went to the bar and got one. We won't be coming back.😔

Service was so slow and the wait in between food was insane. We ended up leaving before final meals. Was just taking too long. Real shame.. first time visit and not sure I'd go back.

Ok experience a little disappointed. Meals did not arrive as described in the menu. We have dined at multiple okami locations all over Melbourne in the last 5 years. The Mornington okami appeared to be cost cutting. The beef carpaccio was in small strips half the size of other okami. Addition the beef & vegetable udon noodles had 3,4 carrot matchstick and 2 thin strips of beef. We told the waiter and he replaced same dish with a few bean shoots. The tempura sauce was watered down so much it was like dipping in water..This was not a true reflection of other okamis. Disappointed

This is the third Okami we have tried, this restraunt at Mornington has been by far the best, they were very busy when we arrived at 6pm, it did take a little while for someone to come to us at the start, we soon worked out there was a little sign you can flip around for service oops they forgot to mention that, but we did not feel rushed, we were able to take our time, the food servings were bigger than Frankston and Cranbourne. The food was all hot and fresh when served. 10 STARS 🌟

Okami staff were amazing on a very busy Saturday night. This was my 2nd visit and I thought the food was as great on both occasions…quick to come out and very tasty !!

Food was fresh, and service was spot on, the staff where friendly and nothing was to hard to accommodate.

Slow service. Had to ask for an item 4 times. Waited 40 minutes then left without getting it. Still charged full price. Regular customer, won’t be back.

As I have been to the restaurant many times I knew the menu, so ordered right as I sat down. We arrived at 7pm, ordered at 7:05pm. Waited around 15 minutes for the first part of the order, but not sushi. The sushi arrived at 8pm. A hour after we ordered it. I noticed other tables didnt get any either for the same amount of time. All other foods came out at a reasonable time however. The sushi was delicious, but a hour wait is ridiculous.

Food was great but the service was disjointed and a bit disappointing. Some food arrived very quick, other items arrived almost 45 minutes after we ordered it. Our chicken wings never even arrived. We asked waiters/waitresses for water about 5-6 times before we finally received some. We were not provided with one of the table flags for requesting service like most other tables around us had. I also noted several other dinners in the area having to request plates.and cutlery several times before they received them, and several dinners leave because they were waiting too long for their food orders to arrive.

Employees seemed a little overwhelmed. It was really hard to get their attention to order. Waited quite some time before being able to put order through. We were in a booth in the corner and overlooked compared to other tables. Finally recieved some water after 1 hour but no cups :-(

Think they forgot at lease 50% of the meals and had to continually remind them what was still to come. Not enough staff to service the restaurant. Close to my worst experience at Okami but for the one in Dromana which is an absolute piss take !

Crowded, noisy and long wait for service. Teriyaki steak burnt and tough. Although we only had four half serves, one beer and one corkage, bill was $90.94. Not value for money. Will not return
