Okami - Mornington

Our table of 4 arrived to a very busy restaurant. When we sat down no one came to our table to explain how to order food, but there was a QR code for the table so we all got out our phones and proceeded to order, not knowing that we should of ordered off just one phone. We waited and we waited, one persons meals come out. But we continued to wait for the other 3. We had expected to have at least 12 different plates of food. We continued to wait as we could see how busy they were, no one noticed that we didn’t have any food in front of us or approached our table to ask if we were ok or if there was anything they can help with. As the restaurant started to empty, we had to ask. So we asked what would be taking so long for our meals to come out. The lady went back to the kitchen and come back out, explaining that there was nothing in the kitchen waiting to come out for this table. That’s when we finally learned how to order food. No instructions, no one explained anything to us before we waited over an hour and half for our food. Then finally as our food came out we had to eat very quickly as the restaurant was then closing up. Not a very good experience for my friend’s birthday.

The service was excellent, the only thing was disappointing was the sushi & sashimi plate, everything else were perfect.

Just really very much an ‘all you can eat’ no frills eating experience…. I feel like oksmi is the McDonakds of Japanese food. Beef carpaccio was lovely As was the sashimi. Unfortunately nothing else was very nice. The QR code would not let us order soup. And our last dish never arrived but was in the receipt.

Staff were lovely and working very hard - but there were some huge problems with service and food delivery. We ordered on QR code and food didn’t come - we got some but not all - we ended up leaving as it was so disorganised… not a good experience for an all you can eat

Excellent service always love coming to Mornington Okami - the team did a wonderful job on New Year’s Eve dealing with silly people well done team my partner and I had a wonderful time tonight celebrating the last night of 2024 only thing I’d recommend is not having an online booking service if you aren’t going to reserved tables 😊

I really wasn’t impressed with the food. I understand it’s all you can eat but it seemed cheap and not very flavourful. The beef dishes all lacked seasoning. And the chefs nigiri sushi was disgusting. The tea we ordered was really disappointing too, 1 green tea bag for two people is a bit lame. The crab I’m pretty sure was imitation but it said real crab on the menu. I honestly don’t think I will ever go to another okami or recommend it to anyone else.

Overall good dinning experience, quality and consistence of food has declined since it first opened.

Had the all you can eat at Mornington store. Never felt rushed and were there for about 1 3/4 hours. Noise level is acceptable. Getting in before 7pm meant less people and more relaxed experience.

This was my first visit to this restaurant, it was a lunch time and it was reasonably quiet but believe it can be noisey in the evening. The menu was quite extensive but the addition of Tempura Vegetables and Okonomiyka could add vegetables to the selection.

The food came out alot faster than I thought it would. It all came out hot as well which was fantastic.

Very slow service. Disorganised. Food does not come out in the oder you ask. Food was over cooked or burnt. Smaller serving sizes than advertised. Terrible.

Have eaten here many times, however, the food portions have become smaller and smaller over the years. Rice was terrible. We had food not ordered brought to our table, which we did not want. We ordered drinks and waited 30 minutes, again, having to ask. For 6 paying persons, this restaurant is now extremely poor in service and food. When we left, I informed the manager, who couldn't have cared less. After $245 paid, we got takeaway on the way home. Complete fail, no return, avoid, just not worth it.

Had a fantastic evening, father’s bday and the food and atmosphere was great. Enjoyed the new ordering process too.

The restaurant was full and there were only two waiters working. One waiter was busy with drink orders, the other waiter was taking orders from very big tables so there was no one to bring the food out from the kitchen! Eventually the kitchen staff started delivering some of the food. Some things we ordered never came to our table. After ordering some items twice and waiting a long time we eventually gave up. It was awful. I would warn anyone thinking of going there not to. The phone was constantly ringing with no one answering. A group of people turned up while we were there and they said they had rung six times to try and book but their calls were never answered. It was a disaster.
