More about the restaurant: Moorish Cafe
The influences are Spanish, Mediterranean and North African and the results are – sorry, we couldn’t resist – moreish. Seriously though, Moorish Cafe on Knuckey Street is quite simply one of Darwin’s best restaurants, and there is none other in the city quite like it. Moorish Cafe are famous for being Darwin’s first tapas restaurant, and their tapas menu is impressive – duhka-crusted chicken liver pate with house pickles, grilled local eggplant with pomegranate & yoghurt, grilled pork belly with rosemary and fennel seeds, North African meatballs, chilli & cinnamon lamb, sumac-spiced calamari, local NT jewfish and banana prawns, grilled chorizo, duck shanks with saffron caramelised onions – okay we’ll stop it. But that’s only the start, and tapas are only the tip of the iceberg, there are full breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert menus that are just as impressive. It’s right in the CBD and very popular, but if you book early enough you can be sure of a special meal to look forward to.
