Maedaya

Maedaya is my favourite Japanese restaurant. The menu is awesome, the selection of sake is amazing, and the staff are always so friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Excellent service as always and great food. Unfortunately it was an off night for the restaurant, experiencing a number of technical difficulties and running out of various menu items. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed the meal!

Good food and recommended place. We always love the BBQ meats and also the side dishes. It's so easy now that you can book your booking online

Great restaurant. I've brought 15 friends to the restaurant in multiple visits, none of them was dissatisfied with the dining experience and quality of food.

Food was good, BBQ stuff was nicely BBQ by the staff, sushi was ok, but generally quite expensive. The dessert earl grey cake was superb!!

Food was really good, but it came out a bit slow. Overall a good experience as the atmosphere and the friendly staff made it such a wonderful time

Shops gotten larger but smaller menu and less detail in the food. It was much better when I use to see the owner there mixing and making drinks. He new how to really show off the place

Very casual, low-key and affordable Japanese option in Richmond. Ordering off the iPad was a nice gimmick. The food came really quickly so don't be deterred by the two-seating times.

Great time, nice atmosphere, the drinks and food menu was very comprehensive and everything was very tasty. Really enjoyed the yakiniku! Will return. Arigato gosaimas!

The fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant, and always smiling staff made our dinner fantastic. Updated menu since last which was nice, favourites were still there. Very affordable also, quite a surprise given the quality of the food and the great service.

Skewers are good value and menu is lots of fun to browse. Huge sake selection with good price range. Service is friendly but we requested water through the tablet 3 times and never received it.

We went here for my daughter's birthday and we had a lovely evening. The food was fantastic and because we could use ipads everyone was able to order exactly what they wanted.

Unfortunately there was a Very noisy party next to us. The waiter should have told the groupe to be more quiet. - The food was very good.

Authentic japanese yakitori bar atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable price for the quality. If you love matcha and love beer, must try their matcha beer, very unique.

Great selection on the menu. Waitress were not very attentive to our requests and orders. Our iPad menu was taken away from us mid session and also it was low on battery which affected our orders too. Technology service not up to scratch.

Food is delicious, specially the charcoal grillled skewers, they are so yummy. The variety of sake, cocktail and Japanese beer is impressive. Staff is friendly. Cost is a bit expensive but it's worth it.

Overall food and ambience is good. Staff were helpful. The grilled items were slow to arrive which didn't help that we had to vacate early

Service was prompt and food was delicious. A good varied menu meant that we had a multitude flavours to satisfy our palettes. And it wasn't too damaging to the hip pocket

Very tasty authentic Japanese food, one of the best restaurants in the area! The only thing that could be improved is the timing of some dishes.

Great food but most of the staff seemed a bit rushed. Had difficulty keeping the content of vegetarian dishes separate from the meat dishes, so our vegetarian wouldn't eat some. Each table is supplied a tablet to make your order on; you can view the items on your order but can't see which ones are still outstanding. Two of our vegetarian dishes did not arrive until we prompted at the end. However, all the food was very tasty and look stunning.

I love this place! Closest thing I have found in Melbourne that reminds me of my time in Japan. The iPads are seriously the best!!!!!

Always great food and quick efficient service. I love the tablet ordering as everyone can look through, read up and chose. The prices are always great and they're constantly adding to the menu so you do go back! Been coming here for years.

2 hours for the food to arrive, they kept losing our order, regular requests for an update but it seems they kept forgetting it. Terrible! Very let down

Great experience, Japanese style pub with broad menu and delicious food and drinks. Interesting ordering through a tablet at the table allows you to choose from pictures with description.

The was a great variety of food on the menu, all reasonably priced. The food came really quickly and was super delicious! I would highly recommend Maedaya.

Maedaya is so delicious, and the ambience is great. It was good to be able to book online with quandoo for confidence we had a table!

Such a friendly atmosphere. Food full of flavour and staff very helpful. Dining experience there for the first time was great. I will surely be back there worth the family again.

A large range of delicious food, with an even more impressive range of Japanese saki, wine and beer & great service. Enjoyed the good times.

Simple, tasty, quick food in a fun environment. Love the iPad order system but make sure you scroll through everything as we did miss some great food. Would highly recommend and definitely book. Order the Sake early to warm you up during winter!

Great food and good value, nice place. We arrived 10 mins early and was asked to leave and come back at our time slot, I thought this was not a good look as we were new customers. I felt like I should have gone somewhere else, I believe they need a seating area where customers may have a drink before they are seated at there allotted time...If they are to be strict with table times??? this was the only thing I can say in negative to the restaurant.

Excellent food and the service was great. I always look forward to going to this restaurant. It was amazing and my guests love the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

food at Maedaya used to be very good and I was proudly taking non-Japanese friends there. Quality of food, however, definitely went down. Sashimi wasn't very fresh and Mentaiko spaghetti was horrible with too much QP mayo. I was told they changed chef. Maeda san, please do something. Otherwise I won't go back.

Nice vibe, authentic Japanese yakitori skewers with reasonable price, will definitely come back for another meal soon with my friends and family, highly recommend matcha beer!

Food was good. Been here lots of times. Usually a good experience. Probably understaffed this time we went. Orders were wrong and staff were too flustered and seemed a bit annoyed which rubbed off onto their service.

We were seated in a cute booth and as it was someone's birthday they brought her a cocktail and a few of the waitresses sung her happy birthday!

The food was delicious and good value. Wine selection is very limited (only 3 reds). Service was ok but could have been a little more attentive as we waited for long periods of time before someone came to serve us and it was difficult to get someones attention when needed.

Have always loved coming to Maedaya, as the service and food had always been top notch! It is therefore unfortunate to say that the food was a little disappointing on this particular visit. Some skewers came at room temperature, while others piping hot. The fried sesame chicken was also lacking in its usual flavour. However, the gyoza and tofu were fantastic, as were the drinks and service!

I booked a table for my birthday for 11 people. Great food but I was barely attended to all night and had to get up on several occasions to ask for assistance. We also shared one iPad between 11 people which made ordering difficult. Reccomend for small groups of people or couples.

Amazing place for authentic Japanese food! Great variety of Sake!! Friendly staff and quick service, pays to book especially towards the weekend.
