Great service and high quality food with a busy environment
Had lunch with a couple of elderly friends. Sat in the courtyard and had a delightful afternoon. Good food, service and ambience.
Great food service & ambience fabulous always love going back now living Bayside I wish we had something like this in Brighton would be an absolute winner
The waitstaff were efficient and attentive. Lots of greenery and a good atmosphere in the courtyard.
Always reliable, always a great atmosphere, always enjoyable to return!
Jimmy’s has great food, great cocktails and wine, great service, and so much character. It feels like a family restaurant where the greeting is warm and pride is justified. No wonder this place has lasted all these years. I will be going back.
A warm welcome, cosy and hospitable ambience and a palpable feeing of its legendary history of fine wine and great food; this is what our recent lunch at Jimmy Watson's delivered. A truly precious, culinary institution.
I enjoy the unpretentious ambience and good value food and wine. A great place for our regular old-school catch-up.
Grand Final day was a great time to go to Lygon Street Food and staff were amazing
Great food! Lovely wine! We left early because the table next to us with 6 people was so loud. We couldn’t hear each other speak.
Delicious main courses but no desert available. Chef had gone home by 9.30. Unheard of! Had to go elsewhere for an ice cream.
Jamie was amazing looking after us and the food was perfect
A good meal in a pleasant environment. Would go again.
Arancini and duck were very dry and no flavour. Took us 10 years to go back since our first visit. Might be another 10 years before we go again
Amazing food! Barramundi with prawn and crab bisque and semolina cake with pistachio icecream were superb. Still the same atmosphere - quintessential Melbourne.
Great food, extensive wine list would certainly return n ct time we are in Melbourne
It was pretty empty and missing a bit of atmosphere that could have been achieved with lower lights etc.
From the time we walked in till the time we walked out I cannot fault it. Nike was amazing, waited on us in a very friendly and profesional manner. My dish was want I was expecting, 10 /10, wine was excellent and desert just as good. Definitely we return to Jimmy Watson’s.
We were a little squished at our table and with the sun streaming in those facing the window needed to wear sunglasses. The joy of lunchtime bookings. The bentwood chairs are a beautiful vintage touch but perhaps a cushion would make them at least a little bit comfortable
As always, super food and service. The Jimmy Watson Barossa Shiraz is excellent.
Have always enjoyed food at Jimmy Watsons but was disappointed today with the dishes. Service is always very good.
Lovely service, friendly vibe. Food was tasty. Good place to have a quiet wine with a loved one, good meal, and walk up and down Lygon afterwards.
There were 4 of us. We all loved our meals. The service was timely and helpful. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting
Excellent food as always, however the service was disappointing throughout the meal. Most unusual for this Carlton institution. Probably understaffing rather than the fault of staff on duty.
Everything was great. However they thought we were booked for 7:00 when your app clearly showed us at 6:00. But there was no problem with that as they were not busy.
Good food, nice wine by the glass and friendly staff. Very enjoyable
Love this place! Great food and service. We keep coming back.
My guests and I are somewhat deaf and where we were seated made it a little difficult to hear each other even though the general noise level was not very high.
Had a waiter (James) on his first day at the restaurant. He's definitely a keeper! Will be (is!) a decided asset to the restaurant.
Consistent good service in a relaxed atmosphere with great selections of wine and quality meals
Great food and exceptional service. Quick service and hot food arriving at the table not to mention great wines available. We will be back.
As always, excellent service from Nigel, Tom and Vera. The mozarella sticks are fabulous, duck paté excellent and the seafood linguine super-tasty.
From warm welcome by owner to excellent service of fine food and wine, it was a great experience. Highly recommended.
Lovely meal, great service and the usual great Jimmy Watsons atmosphere
The worst meal please don’t go there - had a bottle of sparkling that was rubbish and the food was awful - chicken parmigiana obviously just thawed from being frozen- chicken was watery and tasteless . The place is an absolute rip off . Charged us a service fee for terrible meal
Always a lovely spot in the courtyard on a warm sunny day. All the meals were amazing.
Food is always excellent here & today was no exception to that. We sat in courtyard & enjoyed a very pleasant occasion
Excellent as always. Polenta chips delicious, Carnivore pizza very good.
Jimmy Watson’s has held ‘the stand of time’ and one great place to dine, wine & enjoy great service & company 👍
Great to be back and see Alan Watson there! The barramundi was amazing !
Fantastic night. The food was really good, so was the service, and the venue is really lovely. Highly recommend
Have not been there for decades but nothing has changed. Amazing ambiance, food, wine and service. A Melbourne treasure when so much of quality in this city has been lost. Long may Jimmy Watson’s live.
A very pleasant experience! Great food with service to match. A fee drink to celebrate my birthday was a highlight of our visit.
Great service great wine and brilliant courtyard , well done gang
What a great family institution. Nigel, his dad , Mr Alan Watson, and team run an extraordinary hotel. A great tribute to the late Jimmy Watson. And, thankyou, Nigel, for choosing a delightful, little-known shiraz...much better than my choice.
Food and wine were both good, was not busy at restaurant when we were there but often had to get waiters eye for service.
Excellent food exceptional wine knowledge from staff and a very congenial atmosphere
