Okay, so it’s not all Chinese at Golden Phoenix. A few other Asian specialties lurk amid the authentic Chinese dishes, which is just as well considering Berowra has a very limited range of restaurants to choose from compared to the cosmopolis of Sydney an hour south. Chef’s specials include Cantonese sang choy bow and you can also get yourself a laksa or a Thai red curry. But we recommend the chef’s Mongolian lamb pancake, Jiangnan or Beijing pork ribs, or the northern Chinese-style chicken fillet for a real regional kick.
