More about the restaurant: Foxtrot Charlie
F is for food, C is for coffee – that’s Foxtrot Charlie. This fantastic Melbourne cafe twists the phonetic alphabet to perfectly represent what it’s best at and we think it’s exactly this that makes it stand out from the crowd. Cafes in Melbourne are anything but few and far between, we know, but Foxtrot Charlie us genuinely cool, stylish, damn tasty and there’s a big aeroplane floating over you as you drink and dine. You’ll find it on Sydney Road in Brunswick and we can’t recommend a reservation highly enough.

Thinking about making a Foxtrot Charlie booking?
Once a little secret of Brunswick but not so much anymore because it’s as good as impossible to keep food and coffee this good quiet, Foxtrot Charlie is everything a Melbourne cafe should be. The space on Sydney Road is just the right amount of wood, brick and concrete, fused together to make a cool-looking and, thanks to the food and coffee, good-smelling little haunt. To go into some detail with the coffee, Foxtrot Charlie is it’s own boutique roaster with roasted-daily house blends and plenty of other single origin variations to keep things curious. The roasting method uses hot air technology and the results are clean, sweet cups of quality coffee.
In terms of food, Foxtrot Charlie offers some of the best cafe fare in Brunswick, best enjoyed for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Kick your day off with warm breakfast crumble, spiced leek fritter with roasted beetroot and tahini puree, or a decadent bit of slow-cooked and organic pork belly served with corn fingers, spicy salami, a poached egg and peppered corn relish. Lunch specials change regularly but some fixed-termers from the deli include tagliatelle pasta with mixed mushrooms and spicy beef brisket served on a gluten-free Turkish roll with Swiss cheese, caramelised onions and pickles. Wonderful stuff, we’re sure you’ll agree, and worth a trip from anywhere in Melbourne.
