Really enjoyed our dining experience. Food and service were lovely.
Delicious food. Great Peking duck pancakes. A good local restaurant.
The food and service was the very best, it was amazing.
Best Chinese restaurant in Melbourne. Very friendly service, exceptional food and extremely good value.
The best in Melbourne - sooooo good. Thank you !!!
Unfortunately advised that the restaurant will soon be closing - due to lack of patronage - coronavirus related. What a bummer!
Noise environment, long waiting time for nearly an hour until the first dish arrived on table. Won't go again!
A little bit noisy but expected due to Chinese New Year
A well-managed Chinese restaurant in a handy location. Very good!
Great food, good service maybe could be a little more attentive as it wasn’t busy.
East Imperial has now become a local favourite! Both food and service are consistent great. Arthur looks after all his patrons with a smile and great efficiency. Nothing is ever an imposition and they are very happy to cater for dietary changes. Thanks East Imperial !!
Went with family. Service was a let down. One head waiter tried his best but we were left for a long time in between yum cha service
Very nice table and a good yum cha style meal. Not crowded or too noisy on a busy day - Father’s Day. Nice friendly wait staff
Service and food had dropped in standard from our last visit.
Once again, a most enjoyable evening at my favourite Chinese restaurant in Melbourne.
Great food. Great service, great value, thanks everyone. Parking hard
Love this place - the service is always very attentive and the food options fresh and tasty. They use organic vegetables and you can taste the difference. Yum Cha is varied and delicious. A la Carte has some excellent menu items. My favourite is salt and pepper calamari or sweet and sour pork.
Nice food, nice services, and a good location. Well done.
Came here and was impressed by decor. That’s as much as I was impressed by. Food was average. Some dumplings didn’t have much taste. If you are used to yumcha in the city or Doncaster it may be a good idea to stay there and eat.
Excellent food and service. Arthur is a great host and the food is always consistent and fabulous. Thanks again for a lovely evening.
This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. With an extensive menu and excellent service,a most enjoyable dining experience is assured.
I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Service was fairly good, servers were helpful. The yumcha fare were limited and a bit of a hit or miss. I'd return for the ala-carte menu.
The staff at the East Imperial are always welcoming and helpful. The food is fresh, delicious and generous. This is our kid's favourite restaurant and we will continue to go back.
Dumplings are the best eats - delicious with smooth soft skin and tasteful filling. Did not like the ha chong. Roll was thicker than usual
Excellent service, quality food and wine at competitive prices. If driving, parking is much easier in Faraday or Rathdowne Streets compared with Lygon Street. My friends and I are regular patrons.
Quality food, excellent, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Situated in Rathdowne Street, two streets from Lygon Street, parking is easier than elsewhere in Carlton.
What a great find! The food is fresh and the service is impeccable. We have visited on a number of occasions recently and ordered from the a la carte menu and have not been dissapointed. Staff are very customer focused and don’t miss a beat. Menu is also varied with lots of options.
Courteous greeting, quick service, quality food at a competitive prices, good wine list and permits BYO wine. Conveniently located where parking is much easier than on nearby Lygon Street.
Came here for Sunday Yum cha. We had great service and beautiful food. Came with a group of 11. We well and truly left full. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks.
Great food, thoughtful and prompt staff. Our party of 6 with a toddler and baby were very well catered for and we felt that the position of our table was great so as to not disturb other diners and wonderful experience for our party. The yum cha was excellent quality.
Very nice setting. Great service. Good range of food and good quality. Food just not quite hot enough with many of the dishes. Perhaps it was Mother's day with lots of pressure.
East Imperial - very tasty food, good service. The staff were very attentive and welcoming to our group. It was a very enjoyable meal and experience overall.
Waited for 20 minutes to be served a drink and half an hour to get our first dish. There was only two other tables being served at the time that were waiting as well. Two bus loads of Asian came in and were served immediately. Without question we felt racially discriminated against and left after we were served what we did not order.
Friendly staff, delicious food, always a great experience dining here.. would definitely recommend it! Yum Cha on Sundays is also excellent and without the hustle and bustle of lines at the door.
Very good dumplings and nice service. What can I say more. I recommend this place. The staff is friendly and quick in picking up orders. Thank you
Absolutely love every visit to East imperial. The staff are accommodating, friendly and professional. The food is absolutely beautiful and came out in a timely manner. We will be back again without a doubt.
Very pleased with our night out here for Chinese New year. We found the staff attentive and the food really enjoyable. The Chinese tea was especially good.
Excellent service, tasteful decoy and great food and very reasonably priced, a great spot for a Yum Cha withou all the hassle of the CBD.
First time visiting East Imperial for a yum cha lunch. The room was spacious and we were able to easily hold a conversation while dining. The staff were lovely and attentive. The dumplings were delicious, good variety and came out fast and hot.
Good service, but lacks variety in yum cha dishes. Good restaurant atmosphere though and the food was delicious. Might go back for a la carte next time.
Good yum cha with a wide variety to chose from and nice change from the usual carlton fare. Can get cheaper in china town but this is a good option if you want to take your time and actually have a conversation
Great food and service. Enjoyed night out very much. Asked to switch tables as large table too big for intimate discussion with just 5 people. Only too happy to oblige
