Brilliant One of the few places I’m happy to spend money on food

Excellent wait staff and great atmosphere. Presentation of the food was great, very subtle flavours.

Celebrating our 2nd anniversary, we ordered the long course with wine pairings. They did a great job of matching wines with the courses. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Each dish was full of new and exciting flavours, and many Incorporated native Australian ingredients. We had an amazing night.

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at the Deer Duck Bistro. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere brilliant and quiet, the service was outstanding. Just excellent.

We had a 8.30 sitting with a set menu for Valentine’s Day with 1 vegetarian set and 1 normal set, we arrived early for a drink and the chain of events that followed was terrible. -8.45 checked with staff about booking, I was informed that previous sitting was running late but won’t be long -9.05 seated 35mins after booking, very hungry -9.40 first course is served, with no explanation of why it has taken 70 mins from our booking time to receive a slice of bread and a scallop -9.42 remind waiter that we have booked with 1 vegetarian set, waiter goes back to the kitchen with all food -9.45 remind wait staff to bring champagne, 40 mins after being seated -9.52 waiter brings first course again, we are seriously considering leaving at this stage and tell the waitress that we will need to leave at 10.30 and if service could be faster. -9.55 our drinks arrive, 50 mins after being seated -10.15 second course arrives, 70 mins from seating, we nearly leave -10.20 third course arrives -10.30 desert served -10.40 pay bill Whilst paying, I was asked about my experience and staff member apologised for the late seating and asked if I would return. I told him I can understand that it’s a very busy day and that delays had a compounding effect but I also told him that it wasn’t good enough at this level of fine dining and at these prices. I left saying that it is now nearly 11pm and I would never return again. Our planned romantic dinner date away from our 3yr old was a fine dining disaster, unfortunately we were the first table to leave out of another four in the late seating. I can only assume there were there closer to midnight, not by choice. The only positive is the food was delicious and some staff were prompt and responsive, we will never return.

Overall it was a good meal. However, expeinced mixed service staff, who had limited knowledge of the menu. Meat was also over cooked in two dishes which was disappointing.

First up let me say this was one of the nicest dining experiences of my life. We had a degustation dinner and the flavours were wonderful and service excellent. Only down side was that we were unaware before arriving that there was no a la carte menu (as most other patrons in our area of the restaurant were.)

Great atomoshphere, decoration and most importantly food. We enjoyed the 7 course degustation menu and thought that the oricchiette and sous vide duck were particularly tasty. We had a fabulous evening at the Deer Duck Bistro. Only vague faults were the drinks service was a bit slow (given the rating of the Bistro) and the beer selection given the proximity to so may great breweries was a little generic.

Deer Duck has great (really great) food, lovely service and a wonderful atmosphere. Such a gem in an unexpected place. We'll be going back for sure.

This is the most amazing restaurant. The food is like nothing in this world. The ambience, service and food are superb. The degustation is simply one course after another of sheer delight. Truly a dining experience not to be missed. .

Great restaurant with incredibly delicious food. We had the short course degustation which was just the right amount of food for us with a good variety. The wait staff very attentive and pleasant which made the night even better.

Don’t let the name fool you, these guys offer the most incredible vegetarian ( and non-vegetarian) degustations. Impeccable service, eclectic surroundings, Deer Duck Bistro is like you’ve jumped in a time machine and traveled back to Paris in the late 1800’s. I cannot wait to return. Thankyou for a wonderful dining experience!

Degustation menu was delicious as was the old world mood lighting and professional service. Just loved the unique surrounds. The menu is brave but worked a treat for our special occasion. Bravo!

I have been looking forward to this dining experience for almost two years and it did not disappoint! We did the long course which took a good four hours ; some stellar out standing dishes served included venison carpaccio, lamb on cauliflower purée, fresh bread with truffle butter, poppyseed cheese cake, the orecetti with pork speck! Cocktails were delicious but no standout. I could say clams were slightly rubbery and service slow but these are minor imperfections noticeable. All in all a lovely place to celebrate a birthday in a romantic whimsical atmosphere. Thank you 😊

We thoroughly enjoyed the short degustation course and the service was really good. We attended on a Wednesday night so it was not too busy which made the experience more enjoyable given that we were celebrating our 10 year Anniversary. I would highly recommend and would go back again.

Outstanding as usual. New Years Eve - best NY meal ever! A degustation with the most supreme ingredients and flavours. Everything was simply marvellous !

If you are looking for a lovely long meal which leaves you pleasantly sated, then this is the Degustation restaurant for you. Although each helping is small, you take time to eat it and enjoy it. By the end of all the courses you have had enough. The wines are matched beautifully with the foods. (I will be looking to buy more of a couple of them.) What really finishes the experience is the staff. They are confident, knowledgeable and happy to chat with you. It was surprising to hear that they had not had international training. We will return soon.

The Restaurant was very beautiful - like an elegant English private club. The food was superb, however the delivery of it from the time we placed an order was long and we did notice other patrons that had come much later received their meal before us. Unfortunately the inconsistancy of delivery of our drink order once placed also occurred : - only one of us received a drink and after some considerable time the other two beverages arrived. Of course in fareness it is getting busy this time of year - but service is service when it is all said and done. It was a friends birthday and I would go back in a minute due to the food and ambience but the continuity of service was not good enough for a special dining experience. I will say all staff were very pleasant and courteous.

Absolutely fabulous. The food, drinks, atmosphere and service were outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a special evening out.

Pleasantly surprised by the menu of the 5 course vegetarian lunch I very much enjoyed the flavours and thought behind each course. Each mouthful was a journey for the tastebuds who demanded less talk, more savouring, rendering this anniversary luncheon the most quiet in our many years together. Whilst my husband enjoyed his 5 non vegetarian courses, he felt the first course was meagre and simplistic and he longed for greater portions. We both enjoyed the wine menu, very good service and the ambience of the restaurant and look forward to returning to see the delights of next seasons’ menu. To hold us over until then, what type of balsamic vinegar do you use, Deer and Duck? It was amazing, highlighting your beautiful bread to a ‘T’. Thank you for a memorable anniversary.

Great food and wines and very knowledgeable waitress. Particularly loved the Chardonnay. She even rang me afterwards to let me know I’d left my umbrella behind.

First time to dine. I ordered the gnocchi for main and the deconstructed poppy seed cheesecake for dessert. Both meals were delicious but, given the price tag and the fact we were not partaking in the full degustation menu, we expected main size portions, not entrée sizes and unfortunately left still hungry after a two course meal. The drinks we ordered at the very start of the night didn't arrive until after we had finished our mains and my friend's drink order was incorrect. An apology for the delay was offered and the correct drink was made (naturally incurring further delay).

Very slow service, a glass of wine ordered, took 20 mins and warm. Food is average and too expensive for what they were. Not happy

It was our 12th wedding anniversary, we usually go out for a degustation and this one did not disappoint. Each dish was absolutely delicious and very pleasing to the eye. Our only comment is not a criticism but just an oddity... each time our waiter addressed us, with each dish (9 of them), he greeted us by saying Ladies and Gentlemen!!! It was just the two of us and we found it hilarious but strange. Amazing food!!!

Food was amazing. Atmosphere great, though decor lost in the dim lighting. Price appropriate for the attention to detail. Waitstaff were good with excellent knowledge of the food, however there was one staff member whose presentation was at odds with the intimacy of the situation & environment. We would be happy to return & would definitely recommend.
