Perfect food and atmosphere! The heart of the menu is the wonderful charcoal grill and the flavour can be found in almost every dish. We were welcomed by owner Keita and treated perfect! I have an allergy for soy and he was able to help me perfectly (I survived!). We will be back!
Tiny restaurant , squeezy seats , great atmosphere . The miso black cod was excellent. Everything we ordered was beautifully cooked with care. Interesting not your ordinary Japanese menu.
Great food, hard to find a parking space, suggest a cab or walk. Service was good, expensive for the amount of food you get. Would visit again
We we're party of five and had a fantastic dinner, the yakitori's were delicious, the squid entree vetry tender and the squid ink aioli was yum, staff were very friendly and a great atmosphere, highly recommend
Great service, something that is very sparse in Sydney. The atmosphere was great, although when very busy rather loud venue. Food was delicious and an interesting concept.
Amazing food and desserrt! The roe rice and scallio was amazing! The dessert was to die for. Very unassuming small place, but I really enjoyed my dining experience!
We went for the Yakitori. Having just been to Japan, I was surprised and impressed with the quality and how authentic everything was. Not just the food, but the alcohol and service as well. The waitresses and chef were all super-polite and very hospitable. The premise was small but this only added to the 'authentic' japanse experience. Everything from the grill was the perfect combination of crispy exterior with juicy deliciousness inside. Would highly recommend the following dishes: - House made sizzling gyoza - Okra w/ bonito flake ponzu - Kawa - chicken crackling - Aspara maki - asparagus pork - Melanda park - organic pork belly - Teba - Wings 10/10 would eat again. We're keen to come back and try out the Ramen next time! Make sure to try the Ume-shu plum wine and the Lemon Yuzu Wine!
we loved our first experience at chaco bar! highly recommend
Friendly service and 7.5/10 for the food. We were seated at a narrow wall bench with our backs to the dining room. I was bumped at least 6 times by people moving behind us. Next time, I will ask to be seated at a table.
It was a fabulous dining experience all round. Warm, friendly service, a cool vibe and I haven't had Japanese food that good since I was in Tokyo!
went with a few of my friends for dinner. The service was great and the food didn't take too long to come out. Everything I ordered was delicious. Highly recommend for a Japanese izakaya atmosphere!
It was a relaxing night out with family. The food and service was good too. Happy to visit again, will like to try the ramen.
The service and the atmosphere was good however the food was very poor. We paid over $100.00 for a few very dry and very small bbq skewers and 2 appetizers that dissapointed. We had to season everything to give it any flavour.
excellent food, very cosy atmosphere. highly recommended to everyone
Lovely envionment, excellent food as always!! Small restaurant where they simulate the actual atmosphere in Japan and they nailed it! Cannot really make any bad comment for them!:) love you chaco bar!
Love Chaco bar! Have been here several times and it just keeps getting better. Went for my partner's birthday. This visit we tried the new wagyu jerky with yuzu dipping sauce and the asparagus with miso butter. Both were really tasty. We of course got a lot of skewers, chicken hearts (with a green herby coating), pork belly and chicken thigh being our favourites. Great local izakaya!
Tasty food, rang us to say our seats are were ready if we wanted to come earlier, staff were accomodating, happy to explain the dishes in the menu.
It was awesome as usual!! Love the booking system. Food was delicious and service was great!! Keep up with the good work and be seeing you soon!!
the yakitori was amazing, chicken crackling and gyoza is definitely a must try! absolutely love the ambience too! make sure you make reservation before you go.
Really great service and everything is yummy. well done yakitori sticks. Love the dessert as well. The chair and table so tiny but it is expectedly authentic :)
Very nice, small and cosy restaurant with great food! Loved their taro chips and miso eggplant skewers! Also ordered the chef's 6 skewers which were a great selection of skewers. The chicken crackling was delicious and highly recommend!
Small & cozy space. The service is pretty good, but wait staff have to know more of the menu, recommend food portion size and know the drinks on menu
We were in a hurry and we got there late! They managed to serve really good food with a smile and fast. Amazing service and great food - we will definitely go back for a much more leisurely experience
Food is creative and really yummy. Service is attentive but not too intrusive. The space is nice but would have liked our own table. I will go back again.
Great food great services great sake and over all excellentl
The food always yummy. The service always welcome. The special menu always fresh and tasty . The drink always make me enjoy the relax time.
After finding this hidden gem we sat down in this cosy joint to discover Great tasting food, loved the dumplings and the all the skewers.
We just love Chaco Bar. The food is delicious and service so friendly. I feel happy just thinking about the sake and yakatori. Highly recommended.
We've been here twice. Most recently on 16th January 2016 for a friend's birthday. The food is good, probably more on the salty side, but it is an Izakaya after all and the food is meant to be complimented with alcohol. We highly recommend the crispy chicken skewer if you were to dine here, but the service definitely left much to be desired. One of the waitresses didn't seem pleased to take our order, probably because we had booked for 6, but at the last minute, one within our party couldn't make it and the other was late. It was busy on the night we visited, we ordered rice balls at 7:20pm, but it didn't make it to the table till 8:15pm. By 8:00pm, we were reminded that we needed to vacate our seats by 8:15pm, and that if we wanted to eat the cake we brought for our friend's birthday (paying a cakage fee for that privilege) we will need to have it alongside the rice balls we were still waiting on. We had our bill plonked on the table by a member of staff at 8:10pm (still no rice balls), by which time we had decided to either cancel the order or have it take away. At 8:15pm, the rice balls were packed into a take away box and given to us. ...We can only eat as fast as we receive the food, so we vacated our table and ate our last dish hovering around our cars, on the street (which is also where we had the birthday cake). I must say, the service is very un-Japanese. For the money we paid, and the subsequent service we received, we will never come back. I'm sure we will find other Izakaya's with similar quality food. Special thank you to one particular female waitress on the night, out of the 5 different staff we interacted with, she was the friendliest and the only reason why we didn't walk out at 8:10pm without paying for the rice balls.
Food was good and authentic. Alcohol is a tad bit expensive but they hold an extensive range of sake. Felt rushed being out of the restaurant at 8:15 but that's how two sittings work I suppose.
the service is quick and the food is great as well. it's a bit expensive for the portion size. would still recommend to other people.
It has been a while since our previous visit. It is not disappointing and it's an authentic Japanese food experience. The skewers are tasty especially the Wagyu. But the winning dish for the night is the bone marrow rice. It's a very busy place but the waiters/waitresses tried their best.
