good food & different menu to the standard Japanese we are used to in sydney with friendly & helpful service. need to go back to try the ramen
We had a great dinner at Chaco Bar, it has a great atmosphere and the food was fantastic, service a little slow but friendly. Booking helpful as small
The chicken crackling and pork belly skewers go very well with the red rice ale. Also try the silky, soft eggplant skewer with just the right hint of sweetness.
Amazing decor, ambience and customer service like no other. Chaco Bar never disappoints! Undoubtedly the best gyoza in Sydney, served sizzling in an iron-cast pan and caramelised skewers are grilled to absolute perfection. Try the chicken crackling it is the perfect amount of fat, crunch and melt in your mouth goodness! Hands down one of my favourite places to eat!
Sad no ramen on Fridays but tasty yakitori and crispy onigiri are just as tasty . Also love that they have yuzushu. Always a winner
Awesome little restaurant. Service was swift and unimposing. The food was delicious, as was the one tap beer they have on offer (there's plenty more bottled options). It's only small so be sure to book ahead.
Food was great but it was super slow.. I understand the concept... But it seemed a bit disorganised. Initially waited for 45 to get our first skewer. And quite expensive
Great food and setting. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff happy to explain the different types of japanese drinks on offer. The 62 degree egg is delish.
The food is really nice, the place is small but the aesthetic is a funky Japanese theme wish makes it cosy and interesting. The service is excellent.
Lovely intimate fit-out, lovely food, friendly service. Highly recommend.
Food was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoyed the variety of offal skewers on offer. Great range of sake and Japanese whisky as well. One of my new Sydney favourites.
The skewers and gyoza are amazing, and I think they are the best gyoza I've had in Sydney. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Fantastic food and service. Love the yakitori including ox tongue, soft chicken bones and Tsukune; the specials including the tuna carpaccio, egg custard and cod miso yaki.
Food and sake was excellent! In particular the specials, all the foods were full of flavour! But we had the early sitting and had to leave at 8pm.
Amazing food and staffs! Small place but big experience! Sea urchin rice must be the brand name. Will go again definitely. 200% scored and fully recommended.
Love this place. Intimate, good sake selection, a whole bunch of yakitori options, from a standard chicken to spiced lamb and even chicken hearts. Gyoza looked amazing - I'll be back for those next time.
Great food and very attentive staff. Ebi mayo (prawn) and tuna sashimi (today's special) were super. The chocolate cake was more than expected. Highly recommended.
Love everything about this place. Food is amazing and we never run to anything that we dont like. Very cosy and Japanese bar vibe. Price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get there. Owner is also very warm and welcoming, often coming out of his kitchen by the end of the night talking to customers and offering them sake tasting;) I have brought so many friends there and everyone loves it just as much as I do. One of the best Izakaya in Sydney if not the best!
Best Japanese restaurant in Sydney. It's genuine Japanese " yakitori" bar. It's same or better than restaurant in Japan. I would recommend Ausie, this is Japanese food.
Have been here on a number of occassions. However, have never tried dinner until now. The service and food was amazing. A very unique experience and a very different kind of Japanese restaurant. Would recommend it if people are looking for an unique experience.
I'm regular customer they always having authentic yakitori experience and some special unique dishes always make me surprise, for sure will keep coming back, love it,ramen is special as well
Something a little different, small & cosy, staff are friendly and attentive, the food is excellent and includes a few interesting unconventional options. The service was great too. Looking forward to visiting again.
The food and atmosphere at Chaco Bar was brilliant. There were five of us that shared a long table with other guests. A cool and intimate affair. The yakitori was the highlight of the meal. Would definitely recommend.
The food was very good, and was well priced. Service was acceptable, the ambience was good but they were slightly unpunctual with our booking and due to the small size of the place there is nowhere to wait. Would I go again? Not desperate too as it did not knock my socks off.
We were told, only after 1.5 hours of staying at the restaurant, that it was time for our last orders. Never during the booking process, or even after we got to the restaurant, we were told that there was a time limit. Disappointed. The food was good.
We had a wonderful experience here last night. Our meal presented us overall with great tasting food and attentative service. The grilled pork and asparagus was our favorite. The green plum punch was also a winner - a wonderful balance of refreshing flavours. We enjoyed the cosy atmosphere with the large communal table. Would definitely be back!
Love this place, great food well worth every cent. Would happily recommend this place, cant wait to go back to try dishes I saw others eating.
Really good restraunt. We love the skewers and other dishes there. And the yuzu shu therr is fantastic. The service is also really good. Recommend to everyone.
Great value, atmosphere and food. A neighbourhood gem! Not many Japanese places specialising in Yakitori, so quite a treat. And only 50m to the Eternity Playhouse theatre... perfect for a pre-show meal!
For a group of 3 we had a selection of dishes and a big bottle of sake. We were all quite full by the end of the meal. Service was good.
Fabulous food. A really interesting menu with well sized meals allowing for lots of tasty treats. Short but well priced wine list. Friendly, efficient service. Would definitely recommend .
Excellent food and fun atmosphere loved the chicken and egg dish small venue so booking a place is a must. Looking forward to going back again and trying other dishes.
What a great spot. The service was fantastic and the food authentic. We loved the snapper sashimi (with truffle!), prawn sliders and miso fish. Amazing! And then of course the yakitori - wagyu tongue, chicken heart, liver - we can't wait to go back and try more. To top it off, it had one of our fav japanese drinks - yuzu wine!
Such a great little restaurant, full of so many delicious, interesting and random foods on the menu - all amazing tasting! Great customer service, and a really great set up considering the limited size factor of the restaurant on a whole. Fantastic way to meet people and immerse in conversation. Definitely recommend people book in and check it out. :) My partner and I will most certainly be back!!
Cosy nose to tail yakitori restaurant. Great food, beautiful small space. Good wine selection. Great inexpensive mid week option. Like really being back in Japan!
Amazing, small Japanese restaurant with very tasty, interesting food and great sake. We were very impressed, and I was happy with the booking system too (which is necessary because it's so small and popular).
Great! Delicious food and drink in an authentic feeling setting. The service was friendly, the ambience cool and overall an enjoyable experience which will keep me coming back for more.
nice ambience, great service, small menu though, could do with some nice sushi maybe, would have made the meal much better! but aside from that, great!
Disappointing really after all of the good reviews. An unchilled bottle of white wine (replaced after our complaint) and confusion regarding our order (we had to ask about the whereabouts of our courses throughout the night). Maybe just new staff
Chaco bar is a quaint, but authentic little Japanese bar. While the skewers come slow and steady you get them fresh of the grill which is really nice. We got a mix of skewers, my favourites were the chicken crackling, the miso eggplant and the chicken heart (it's smothered in a tasty herby sauce). The rice ball w/ cod was beautiful too. Favourite drinks included the yuzu wine and the hibiki 17yo whiskey. Our new favourite neighbourhood spot!
Great food but not the best service also there is a second sitting at some time they did not actually tell us when so they asked for last food orders at 7:30pm
Been to this place so many times and it's still fantastic. The yakitori is delicious and good variety. Good date night place, small and cosy.
Chaco Bar is a tiny dimly lit yakitori eatery which feels just right. It has real character. The skewers of chicken served on a bed of cabbage are moreish, the small dishes delightful, and the service friendly. Umeshu(plum wine) my drink of choice , flowed freely on the night of my visit. A return visit is on the cards!
Very nice atmosphere, great food, friendly service. Reminds me a lot of being in Japan, and transports me instantly to being back there. Will return again and again.
Great izakaya. Small restaurant so not suggested to bring groups. Great as a date night for a couple. Try various skewers! Didn't try dessert, favourite was their pork and prawn buns
Good little place, lots of interesting stuff on the menu - only thing I would add would be a few more vegetable options / salad
Great food and brilliant service. Japanese cuisine and hospitality at its best. Do not miss if you are in Sydney. Eat guyoza, eggplant and duck.
Very good food and super good service. The skewers are delicous. We love the sea urchin rice as well. Also the sake and yuzu shu are really nice.
A bit on the pricey side but the food was amazing! This little yakitori place has a good cosy vibe. Will definitely come back again.
