Staff were very busy, learnt there jeep. All very pleasant despite volume of patrons. All cleared out by 2100... Go figure . Beautiful night
Staff lovely, venue very pleasant. Food ordinary and not many menu choices.
Ordering on your phone and having your whole order delivered at same time cuts down on staff and therefore on cost if you have a cold entree and a hot main you need to eat in reverse so main is not cold . The staff are courteous and as helpful as they can. Best to order each coarse as you go.!
The menu didn’t have to many options but location is great
All steaks ordered for the table were very dry, tough & cold. As were the potatoes on the plate soggy & cold. You could tell just by looking at the plate when they arrived the plates were visibly not ok as you could see the dryness of the steak even before you started eating it was very disappointing. All the Garlic bread rock hard and cold not edible Prawn roll had discolored (grey) and sour tasting prawns . The only edible meals were the snitzels which were hot & fresh with nice side salad Thank goodness for the music entertainment he really made our night.
Food came out quickly and was delicious but they do not do coffee! It would be lovely to sit outside on a nice day, looking out on the water, having a cuppa. Also, the inside restaurant area is very small and feels cramped, but there is a lot of sun protected seating outside on grass areas . Overall, it was a nice day out.
average food quality but nice atmosphere will probably not return
The Venue is in such a wonderful position. The service was not that great! The table next to us had a cockroach flapping under her chips liner, which was odd. Our food was actually tasty and nice, however presentation wise and finer details seemed rushed. We waited 80 min for our food, not even our bread came out, so we were starving. We will return again in hoping this is teething issues and understaffed
Fabulous location, terrible service, unfriendly staff and every meal at our table was laced with rock salt.
We ordered dessert just before 9pm and were told it was too late. This was after our main meals arrived after 8pm. It would have been helpful if we’d been told of kitchen closing time in advance. Would have been helpful if our tab covered food as well as drinks for a big group ordering.
Lovely food, friendly staff and lovely views. Worth a visit
Bit noisy for us food was good service good view good
Food took 2 hrs to arrive lovely setting but need much quicker service.
Food was nice. The new tavern is lovely. Nice atmosphere
The restaurant was very crowded and it was over an hours wait for food, There was a long line for drinks.
We were seated inside. It was crowded and very noisy with a huge screen down one end of the room which no-one was watching but was very distracting. It took 50 minutes after ordering for our meals to arrive, and the prawn dishes were soft and not fresh/tasted yukky. My husband went to order drinks at the bar and the queue to be served took 15 minutes.
Thought we would try the Tavern for an anniversary lunch and was not disappointed with the food. As the tavern has just opened they have a number of junior staff on and they are still learning the ropes but they were enthusiastic. The size of meals were generous and seasoned very well. The only disappointing thing is as they offer ‘small’ plates rather than entrees all food comes out at the one time so no rest in between serves.
Food was lovely..staff friendly. Trivia was lots of fun 👍😊
Great staff, great food. Rainy day but still nice views.
Came here for a lovely Monday lunch on the public holiday so as you can imagine it was slightly busier than anticipated. The staff were so lovely and polite. Explained to us where to order if we didn’t want to order from our table. Walked us to the table we had reserved. They were fast to get the drinks out and food not too far behind (mind you we did order slightly after 11:40am so wasn’t huge with the lunch rush yet) We will definitely be eating there again.
lacking good customer service. Had to find our own reserved table. long wait for meals.
Average service and food was ordinary. Venue could do with a good overhaul
Our 1st time there, very nice location. My Chicken Parmi was huge, cooked well and nicely presented. Hubby got the fish and chips and was happy with his meal as well.
The wharf salad (Mexican-style) was tiny and really basic. Then we ordered some brownie Sundaes which took half an hour to come out. For ice cream and a pre made brownie that’s ridiculous. The bar area is also too crowded, people don’t know they can go to the express bar. A great refurb and loads of potential but some kinks to iron out.
Food lovely, service great, definitely our new place to eat
View is amazing, staff were friendly, food was ok. Would go back for the view 😌
Lovely lunch! Meals were delicious and good sized servings with lovely views of Lake Macquarie.
Had the snitty, very good size and tasted great. Seating a bit cramped where we were but a new venue probably still working things out. Quite noisy atmosphere as really a small dining area. No need for big TV screens in restaurants area itself as there is a sports bar next door you can sit in to eat if you want to watch the TV.
Great location and improved are great but pretty bad service
Excellent customer service and great delicious food with awesome atmosphere.
Great view. We ordered entrees and mains. Both arrived at the table at the same time. Would expect entrees first then a break before mains. Having said that the food was very nice. Great staff, great service.
Love the view and outlook Friendly helpful staff. Food was tasty and fresh. Nice bubbles on offer! Soloist was a bonus Will be back 😊
We visited on a very wet day, which meant there was a small number of patrons, and the views of the lake were limited. The food and service were good , but we suggest that an order for steak should include a steal knife.
Mid week Schnitzel special was good value and enjoyable. No draft beer available was disappointing.
Tavern bowl meal did not Mach the picture. It was deceiving as the picture showed chicken in the bowl. The add on section of the menu was hard to see on the phone,
Food was lovely and arrived very quickly after ordering. Little strange having to go to two different bars to get drinks but other than that lovely location and staff friendly and helpful
Staff were lovely Only problem was ordering the girl taking orders was also trying to make cocktails at the same time would be better if there was a seperate bar Food came out promptly Food was nice
Great food , great price ,great service ,great spot just need more dinning space .
Meal choice on menu was average. Bar facilities were too fragmented, had to go to different bars for your choices. Ridiculous! Plus side: Great venue but needs an outside deck off dining area.
Love the menu, especially the tuna. Great venue and a great experience
Japanese scallops were way over-priced. Three small scallops for $24 is ridiculous. This is a tavern, not a Michelin star restaurant. Prawn roll was too sweet with the brioche bun. A fresh bun may be better
Every thing was fantastic, food was great and service was excellent
Food was great, Although we were lucky we were there at 5pm and left at 6pm before it was getting busy as we had our baby in the pram and had to move empty chairs to get out. Quite squishy. However staff were really lovely
It was so bad we walked straight back out again 😔
Enjoyed the new venue. Our food was served quickly to us after ordering which was a plus, having children with us. A big thank you to all.
So no one to guide you or show you to the table. No smile from the waiting staff that took your order. I go wow. This place could be amazing with its location but the food was so expensive and the customer service was so poor it was a shame. For the price I would not return but for the ocation I would but plan a very cheap eats because the food was pretty ordinary.
Food was nice. They'll only been open a couple of weeks, but they have to iron out a few problems. Love the view, outdoor tables need umbrellas please.🙏 beer taps need to be installed at the bar where you order meals rather than walking out to another another area to order beers where there was a huge quere🙄
Absolutely fantastic first lunch experience at Raffertys Tavern, the service, food and cocktails were wonderful, will definitely go back.
Fantastic venue, still working through teething problems! Will be good once everything’s in place
We went early so beat the crowds and our lunch came out fast. Best salads we’ve had in a long time! Highly recommend the pumpkin one!
