Basils Seafood

On arrival we were told we had to sit in the inside area where there are only walls to look at. We had requested ‘outdoor seating’. There were no other guests and it just wasn’t welcoming. So we left and went to the Fourno cafe next door.

The steak was fatty and of poor quality. Calamari was rubbery. Fish was definitely not fresh - perhaps frozen. But worst of all was the wait time for service. 40 mins to get the waiters attention from end of mains to see the dessert menu. It’s like we were invisible. Basils was once a premium dining experience at Marsfield. But not anymore. Not recommended but i really hope they improve.

Pizza was store bought as was topping on Caesar salad. Room was cold. Barramundi was fine. This is NOT the popular, excellent Basil's restaurant formerly in Mansfield. Only the name is retained. In sum, never again.

Not really a seafood restaurant, particularly not how it used to be. Food however was good without being excellent. Ambience not so good as the air-conditioning was very cold (during winter) and people checking into the hotel reception were noisy when the partition (between the restaurant and reception) could have been closed. Service was very good however.

Restaurant wasn't actually open, despite opening hours on Google saying otherwise and still accepting bookings on quandoo. The phone number listed was always busy.

My reservation was canceled without informing me. My friend rang on the day to find out about BYO and she was informed the restaurant was closed for renovation and told her to inform me. Finally at 2pm the restaurant calls and did not explain very well. Very disappointing. No customer service. Will not be going there.

Sensational food made by a talented European chef. Great staff, polite, friendly and we were well looked after.

The food was excellent and certainly we didn't leave hungry. A nice evening out.
