Beautiful food and great service. The waiters are very attentive. We eat here everytime we are in Melbourne and have been doing so for many years. Highly recommend.

Truly excellent food and good service but don't go for a quiet lunch on a Friday. It was very busy and extremely noisy. We had only been there before the dinner which was a more sedate affair.

Bamboo House has consistently great food and good service. We had the Peking Duck, spicy lamb cutlet and fried calamari last night and they were excellent. I would go back there again anytime.

This restaurant is first class. Pleasant surrounds in the heart of China Town. Staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. We celebrated my wife’s birthday with a booking st 7.15pm. Seven of us enjoyed a magnificent meal comprising a number of entrees and mains. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly of the highest quality. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Our various courses were served at just the right intervals. We were not rushed as often happens with restaurants that operate on strict two time sittings. We left around 10.30pm. Great meal. Squizito

Nice ambience, tables nicely spaced from each other. Reception and staff service very friendly, attentive without being over bearing. Good first impressions. Menu was extensive enough, and what made me go to try this restaurant me was the Sichuan Tea Smoked duck which is one of my top favourite dish that I have enjoyed every time I had it while working & living in China for almost 30 years. This dish at Bamboo House was exactly spot on, in taste and texture, accompanied by generous number of freshly steamed buns to go with it. The other dish that was also a standout was the entree of Shanghai style smoked fish. Again spot on as one would find in Shanghai. Our (2 of us) third course was braised mushroom w crab meat. While this was also delicately done, I had expected a variety of mushrooms but instead only button mushrooms, and not enough of crab meat (I think it was canned crab meat). It was tasty enough but paled in comparison to the first two abovementioned dishes. Prices were a bit steep but for the overall experience and quality & taste of dishes that are not normally offered in most places, it’s worth to go for that special occasion. For the 3 course meal with tea and rice, the bill came to $99.

Fantastic food. Staff are also fantastic. Only reason for not giving a 6 is because I couldn’t get the dessert I would normally have. Highly recommended.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Melbourne – I have been going here for over 30 years. Last night, in our party of three, the food itself was as good as ever – it never varies. However, on this busy Friday evening the service, although very efficient, was somewhat brusque. Instead of the expected careful plating and delivery of food to our table, I felt that everything was rushed. And the waiter mistook one of our orders (probably partly my fault) by delivering three enormous plates of a beef dish, when we expected one plate to share. This has never happened before. So the message is: be very specific with your ordering and all will be well.

Hasn’t changed in 30 years but still has the best duck in town. Great value proposition compared to other authentic chnese establisments in Melbourne. Long may it stay the same.

Tea smoked duck is the highlight of the menu - together with excellent service. Would highly recommend Bamboo House for any occasion - especially pre-show.

Excellent food and nice atmosphere. I would have given this restaurant a 6 but I asked for my wine to be served with my main course and it was serve immediately and once my meal was served, no one ever came by to see how everything was. If they had, I would have told them I didn’t like the wine.

Fantastic service. Beautiful cooked and presented food. The Duck was crispy and delicious. The Cantonese eye fillet absolutely melted in your mouth, with generous sized proportions had trouble eating it all. Lovely food will definitely eat here again.

Peking duck was decent but not as good as I have had in other restaurants in other cities. They don’t provide enough green onions and cucumbers, the skin of the duck should be an ingredient and it is not. Can’t understand why this restaurant has the rep for having great duck.

Great food and fantastic service. Pity the charge for main meals when ordered for a group were based on a per person rate which made the price increase significantly. Other than this we were very happy

Ambiance of the premises was very good - not as noisy as most Chinese restaurants. Service was very efficient and friendly with good explanation of the specials of the day. Very extensive menu and the dishes served could not be faulted. Very good wine and beer selection at reasonable prices.

The Peking Duck is the best in Melbourne. The staff are a well oiled machine, attentive, respectful and professional. The alcohol offered is always fantastic. One of my favourite restaurants.

A very good meal with the scallop and oyster special, pan-fried eye fillet pot-sticker dumplings and spring onion pancake as starters. We then had spicy pork in Sichuan sauce and the sauté garden fresh greens for mains. All the food was delicious.

Nice food especially Peking duck and ambient atmosphere. They Could have made the pancakes for Peking duck more even, the sauce was all at one end.

Business lunch - great food, efficient service. The Pinot I had by the glass was surprisingly good. Could have a stronger veggie selection for those inclined that way

The best Chinese food we have ever eaten. We visit Melbourne twice a year and always visit Bamboo House. Food is incredible and the staff are all lovely.

Food was fantastic. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. From the minute we walked in we were treated as if we were vips. They would even give our 18 month old his own serve of everything - which he loved!

As always, Anne and the entire team was fantastic. Service levels are excellent and the food is sensational. Definitely recommend the dry fried beef and Peking duck.

The food was pretty standard for the price - it tasted good, but I would expect it too for the cost. The staff were pretty inattentive - we were sitting for almost ten minutes without menus before needing to ask for them, no one was around to refill water, etc.

Peking duck is always fantastic - as good as you get in Melbourne. I would not bother with the seafood birds nest again. Good wine list and service is generally good.
