Wonderful evening. Fantastic food. Excellent service. Restaurant was highly recommended to me by two friends It did not disappoint. I and my rwo friends would definitely return and I would highly recommend it to my friends.
A fabulous local! Delicious food, friendly service, nice atmosphere. A winner for either dinner with friends or family. Well thought out menu that accommodates all tastes. Plenty of vegetarian options. We will return.
Nice welcome. Originally set up one table but manager noticed it was a tad squashy so he suggested another table. Then 2 of us ordered soup and remarked we were sharing with our partners. They brought over 4 serves , which bowled Us over. Don't expect that every time. Love the choice of music. Yes when it is busy it does get noisy but at least the music is pleasant for our age group. Balance of meal excellent. We will return Ta V and M
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. All together a very enjoyable experience. We have been there three times and it is always the same!
Warm & friendly atmosphere. Food was of excellent quality & delicious. The staff was very pleasant &attentive. Outstanding feature was that your meal included the “sides”, which made the price reasonable for a main dish.
They were not prepared for a busy night (valentines day) took 2.5 hours to deliver the main. Informed us they ran out of the dish we ordered 2 hours after we ordered it forcing us to reorder something else.
Restaurant seemed over booked and too jammed in. Food was slow and disappointing. Wait staff tried to keep it all together but overall it was a let down.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal last week. It was delicious. The staff are delightful, helpful and friendly. The tables are very well placed and comfortable and the room has a lovely feel to it. We are looking forward to eating in your restaurant again. Best Regards, Estelle Rubenstein
Lovely restaurant, with a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious. Went with 5 friends and each person thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Service was very good.
A good selection of tasty food at reasonable prices. Very friendly and efficient staff. Particularly Juliana. This was our third visit. Would definitely recommend to others.
Authentic Italian with friendly staff in a tasteful setting. My wife had the barramundi. It was very generously proportioned and beautifully cooked. I went for the veal ragu which should be the benchmark of any Italian restaurant worth its salt and this one did not disappoint. Velvety pasta and a mouth watering sauce with a well developed flavour.
The service was shocking. We waited over an hour for our meal. The food was tasty but very small portions. There was no waiter to attend to us and we had to ask for service. We
The food was incredible - traditional with amazing flavours. The handmade pasta was beautiful and cooked to perfection. The people were lovely - wonderful service. We had a great time.
The Food was lovely and the ambience was also good. Wait staff were attentive and on the ball. Cosy restaurant which is worthwhile checking out.
Food was delicious, service a bit sloppy....they forgot the wine that had been offered with our meal. Had to ask for it. WE have been there before and I would still go there again
4th visit so far, Excellent each time. Friendly, rapid service. Extensive menu. Attention to detail. Best in Elsternwick. Have recommended to friends with positive responses from all..
The restaurant has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guitarist and singer provided great entertainment, our waitress was very friendly and the food was just delicious. Will recommend to family and friends. See you soon.
The food and service were excellent. My only tiny problem was the live band is so loud we could not talk to our friends, but we were moved out to the back room and all was perfect.
Went with freinds on a sunday night . Restaurant was full ... The locals are loving it Its easy to see why . The restaurant has been decorated beautifully . The staff are freindly and helpful. The menu is pages long .. Thats is my only comment , i think that should be pared down and chef can concentrate more on getting the quality consistent. Having said that, we will be back. Its great to have a nice italian, thats not a pizza place . Theres not many round here .
We strolled past this restaurant on Christmas Eve and were drawn by the ambience, smells wafting from the kitchen and the warm greeting by staff when enquiring about their opening hours over the Christmas holidays. We visited on 4 January for a family celebration and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the most divine food and attentive service. Highly recommend Via Campenella.
a bit noisy, some confusion amongst the wait staff and music advertised as jazz was not. The food was Ok but not spectacular, but over all, an enjoyable enough experience. 4 out of 6 is fair, but I would not come back for the music.
What a fantastic neighbourhood gem! Lovely ambience, great authentic Italian food. Will definitely be returning. My only suggestion, which would probably attract even more customers, is for the restaurant to introduce BYO wine in addition to being fully licenced. Many customers would prefer to pay a corkage rather than spend too much on alcohol. I would most certainly spent more on food there if this was the case.
Delicious food! Plenty of variety with something for everyone. A little noisy - we were a table of five and it was hard to hear the conversation across the table. It was almost full on a Sunday night, so be sure to book.
Service a little slow and the waitress (? Italian) must have said 'you're welcome' 58 times which was a little grating. Food was very good with generous serves. Wine list is very limited but okay quality at reasonable prices. Four people, one main course each and one bottle good Heathcote shiraz cost $200 in total. Would go there again.
Fantastic service, excellent food and very well priced. Highly recommended! The staff went above and beyond our expectations and we were extremely happy with every component of our experience.
We had a perfect dinner with our friends. The food was delicious. We love the Italian live music here. Looking forward to visit you again.
Wonderful food and excellent service. Very understanding with two 5yo guests who were made to feel as special as the adults. Highly recommend Via Caponella.
Great venue, very pleasant staff, fine food. Only let down slightly by there being no potatoes with veggies, and cannot take own bottle of wine.
Fantastic food and service. Interiors are stunning. They went out of their way to accomodate my need for a cheese dessert and constructed me a cheese platter although it wasn't on the menu. The salmon was cooked to perfection and my partners gnocchi was amazing. Our new favourite local. 5 out 5 on all fronts.
Great food and atmosphere. Only downside is some tables are too close to together. Wine selection is expansive and served chilled where appropriate. Would go back.
Great staff, amazing food, welcoming & warm ambiance. The food is so delicious and bursting with delicious flavours. The staff are so warm & a delight.
Food is sooooo bad especially the Campanella dishes, if not for the live music, you won't be rated on the 2nd level. Real disappointment for a grand opening!
We left as it took 1.5 hours for them to let us know they'd run out of fish. We had ordered 3 fish dishes and 1 meat dish. We could have been given the heads up earlier :-(
The food was very nice and the service was great. The only issue was the noise. It has all hard surfaces and when it got half full it was very hard to hear. Hopefully they will do something to fix this being only the second night open. Maybe they could carpet it out but it would be a shame to loose the polished concrete floor but the noise is an issue
A great restaurant, amazing food and wonderful service. The ambience is very inviting with a traditional Italian atmosphere. We will definitely be back!! Loved it!
Fantastic venue with elegant decor and great authentic Italian. We were at the Grand Opening night which featured live music and a nice set menu. Will definitely be back!
We got seated at a little table in the annexe where there was no room at all between the chairs and neither the staff nor other customers could fit past so my husband was constantly knocked. There was no room for a table in that spot! We complained but they did nothing. I had overheard the next table being surprised that the 4 of them were seated at a large table for 6 so we suggested we sit at the end of that table. The table was better but the annexe was cold with only one heater and live music was advertised but we couldn't hear it from the annexe. The food was ok but they were pretty disorganised. Won't go back.
Excellent cuisine (home made pasta) and attentive, friendly staff. Salvatore is a great chef. The antipasto plate is a meal in itself. A well-planned menu with something for everyone.
Attentive and friendly service. Tasty authentic Italian food accompanied by delicious wine. We had tomato and basil focaccia followed by Veal Sorrentino. We thoroughly enjoyed both.
Loved it all. They have created a wonderful space to enjoy a meal in, whether it's for 2 or more. The staff, food and wine were excellent
