The desserts were delicious and the service was great. The waitress had a wonderful knowledge of the teas. my friends and I had a wonderful experience

We've been here several times now, and the food is always excellent. We try to choose a different selection each time and have never been disappointed. They specialise in aburi style, where the raw fish components are seared with a blowtorch, giving them an extra lift. Our friend has also been to their Freo branch and had the same experience as us.

The flavours are fresh, clean and interesting with nice little details like extremely good miso soup. Decor a little sparse for fine dining but a relaxed, delicious and very friendly experience.

The food was delicious and prices were reasonable for the quality. The services was excellent and the recommendations we had from the waitress were spot on.

Great meal and so fresh. Friendly service and our grandchildren said they want to come back. Maybe the meat in the hot pot could have been in smaller pieces to make it easier to use chop sticks.

The food was amazing, but the best thing about The Modern Eatery was the service. The staff were friendly, courteous and attentive. Thank you for a great evening.

modern style Japanese food, all the dishes were presented well, tasted even better and were reasonably priced. the staff were welcoming and food service was great, lovely little Japanese restaurant.

Really liked this place in mount Lawley. Small, quiet and clean. Good food, particularly the Aburi sashimi. Will definitely check out their menu every now and then.

Super friendly staff deliver beautifully presented dishes in a stylish Mt Lawley location. The Pork Gyoza were amazing, the Salmon Sashimi Platter was bursting with flavour and the Unagi Sushi Roll was an exotic surprise.

It was a lovely evening, and the sushi made came out looking very pretty and delectable. The crispy salad was yummo. Sushi was fresh and I would definitely be returning for some more. :)

Lovely atmosphere and really nicely presented food. A nice selection of bento boxes available for lunch. The sushi rolls were extremely fresh. Service was prompt.

Sensational food and service, with a really good menu. The gyoza was our favourite! Only negative comment was the fit-out a little bland, with fairly uncomfortable seating.

We really enjoyed the Salmon Oshi very much. Complimentary crispy salad was very nice too. Good service overall with very friendly and polite staff members. Was a good experience.

Dined at Modern Eatery on a quiet wednesday night. Food was fresh and delicious and could not fault. Service from the staff was top notch!

Service was excellent and food was fab as usual. The sashimi was fresh and the creamy crab croquettes were so delish we ended up getting another order!

I went with friends and had been told the food was fabulous. We were not disappointed. Tast and presentation of food great setting and service to match. Loved it.

Very attentative staff, clean restaurant and amazing value for awesome food thats well presented. Highly recommended this place but seats are a little hard on the bottom after awhile.

Our visit to the Modern Eatery was a little disappointing. The portions were small and expensive considering what what you would get in other sushi shops. It also did not specify on the menu how many pieces of sushi we would get. We ordered 3 craft rolls: Fry Me To the Moon was $15 but we got 6 small pieces. The Green Leaf was $12 and we got 8 mini pieces. The Love Me Tender was $12 and we got 4 larger pieces of sushi - plus the chicken was quite hard, not very tender at all. The last 2 sushis were served on one kinda small plate. We felt quite ripped off. We also ordered a vegetable tempura, the batter was not very crunchy. The positives about this experience is the friendly service, nice ambience and the complimentary salad given because it was our first visit. I would try the Aburi next time as it was a popular reccomendation.

Excellent and fresh produce used for every dish. I have been to both the Fremantle and Mt Lawley locations and loved both visits. Highly recommended!

The modern eatery is always so fresh and delicious. The seafood sashimi is my favourite and the tempura is light and crispy as it should be. Service is friendly and fast!

Amazing food and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Definitely the best sushi in Perth. The degustation for Valentine's Day was worth every penny and I hope they do it again.

Lovely people, the friendly waitress approached us with a friendly manner and asked us if this is the first time dining here. Was given a complimentary salad as it was our first time so win! The salad was super good too with the fried sweet potato shavings on top. My salmon aburi sushi was the best and would come back again, also because the kitchen staff are super friendly and greet us with smiles when we left.

Brilliant food and even better service ! Every time I go it's a treat. Already looking forward to the next time 😁 (Get the kamikaze roll!)

Everything was good but dessert especially the creme brulee was disappointing as the sugar was not burnt properly and it was soft and did not crackle.

Great service. But I prefer the simple authentic Japanese sushi instead of Fusion style. There were too much mayonnaise or sauce in the food, overall it's too sweet as well.
