Tucked away in Fremantle, an absolutely delightful Japanese eatery. Friendly service, delicious food which is fresh and seasonal with great presentation.

Soooo great! Wonderfully well priced store premium experience. And utterly gorgeous people on staff 😊 Sincerely supurb flavours and equisite produce. Such a surprise and delight to find this place!

Amazing food! Everything was so fresh. The place is really nice with really good services. Highly recommend if you wanna spend a really good time enjoying Japanese food.

Fantastic food/service. We brought a cake which they so willingly brought out with the candle alight at the appropriate time, along with plates, a cake knife, cake forks and napkins - charged no cakeage! This is almost unheard of in Perth these days! All staff were knowledgeable and spoke good English, which we have noticed is also lacking in many restaurants employing Japanese staff. To top it off, the food was fantastic, Izakaya style. We had the best experience on every level at The Modern Eatery! Thank you!!

The Modern Eatery is my certainly my favourite restaurant in Freo and never fails to impress! Absolutely amazing, delicious Japanese food - the best I've had in Perth. Service is top quality.

Great value with an interesting offering of unusual Japanese cuisine. Adequate wine selection. Funky atmosphere. Easy access location but may suffer once Myer redevelopment is finished

Fantastic food and intimate venue. All the kids really enjoyed the variety of tastes and colours. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will be back for sure.

Really amazing food. Highly recommended, plus very reasonable prices. Very cosy and intimate atmosphere, loved it. However I would recommend ordering food as you go as we ordered too much to start off with!

The Modern Eatery is a real gem. The atmosphere is can be cosy, intimate/romantic or cater for a small group of friends and definitely friendly. The staff are excellent, polite and helpful. The food is superb, fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. We ordered the "Feed Me for Two" x 2 (because there were 4 of us) which consisted of five beautifully presented and extremely enjoyable dishes which was more than enough food for us all. I will definitely not hesitate in returning again or recommending The Modern Eatery - Fremantle to anyone.

Friendly staff and fresh yummy food, we ordered 8 dishes and jananese tea, but the tablet is too small for 5 people, feeling overcrowded. Like the Salmon oshi n crunchy salad.

Good food, but I prefered the menu they have before. And it would be better if they don’t close that early. We enjoyed the meal.

Food is “out of this world” and the price is very reasonable. Thanks Please bring back the wague beef dish. Last night we had the Sumo Platter between 4 guests. Great selection to get a idea of the range. We also had the summer special - chicken chicken wings. Amazing!

Went for birthday celebration and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. Service was great! Food was great! We’d taken along a cake which the staff kept safe and then without even asking brought to our table with candles! Above and beyond!

I've been here twice now, and I'm very impressed. Really exceptional Japanese food, and the staff are super friendly. My vegetarian sister came with me for one visit, and they were very accommodating, asking without being prompted about what would and would not be acceptable for her, and my sister seemed very impressed with the quality of the vegetarian options, for whatever that's worth. My personal recommendations are for the salmon oshi sushi and the seared scallop sashimi, but everything is delicious.

Food was very reasonabley priced, however sashimi kingfish a bit tasteless. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food quite good, price was good. Would go again. Cheap and cheerful.
