The Duke

We always have a lovely time at The Duke. Food is delicious, music is the best and most importantly the staff are so friendly and helpful :) . There is a young guy who sings on Thursday evenings, his voice is amazing, the best voice that I have heard in a long time. Well worth a visit.

The salmon was burnt according to me. The chef said it was the marinade and there was nothing wrong with it. Disappointed at that response when the fish was clearly charred and tasted burnt.

Everyone at the Duke couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Really positive vibe and food was great. Dietary requirements handled very well, lots of vegetarian options and all the staff very knowledgeable about the menu. Can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic service, excellent food. The atmosphere was perfect for my guests, quiet enough for conversation and a really friendly waitress. We even scored free live music on that evening!

Excellent friendly service, fantastic meals which catered for all of our dietary requirements. Good music and seating arranged so that the venue was not over-crowded. One of the best nights out we have had as a family for a long time. Will return!

Nice food, Nice wine, Friendly service, Nice atmosphere. Oganised a colleagues farewell here and it was a really good choice. Would go here again for a similar function.

Lovely food and great to have vegan options. All of those in our party enjoyed their meals; the staff were attentive and friendly. I would recommend The Duke.

Blues night @ The Duke is always an excellent night out. Whether with friends or solo, staff are great food is very well prepared & presented. The entertainment is second to none!

Really good service, good food, good atmosphere, mid range prices. Entree was very nice. Good selection of gluten free dishes. For my dish (pork belly), the serving size could be increased marginally.

The staff were not friendly. We had my 2 year old with us and were told there were no high chairs, though upon going to the restroom saw several high chairs and booster seats - obviously the staff member just didn't feel like going and getting one. The food was served quickly, but was not well done. Two of us had the mushroom arancini with salad - the mushroom balls were lovely, but the salad was a just handful of baby spinach and rocket with no dressing or filing. The other person had an open ham and cheese toastie and it was barely cooked, the bread wasn't even crispy, it was a sandwich with the same sad excuse for salad on the side. Overall it was very disappointing.

Food very sub standard given the prices. Service was mixed. No opportunity to mention quality of food, felt we were being rushed out. Won't go back.

Great food, quick service, lovely warm dining room & very clean venue. Friendly staff & good variety of menu selections. Will be back & will recommend to others.

There was a good choice of good food with fine service in a spacious dining area with a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend The Duke.

Excellent service and food, great variety of woodfired pizzas with fresh and tasty toppings, I recommend the Risotto. Great place to meet after work for a quiet drink and a lovely meal.

Great food, fun atmosphere and good service. Catered well to a large group. The pool table downstairs even made waiting for our stragglers fun. Highly recommended.

Great vegetarian options and fun service. Nice wine selection. Music was loud but good quality. No complaints, really. Loved it. Will definitely come again next time I'm in Hobart!

We arrived on time but waited just over a hour for our meal, possibly because of steaks needing to be well done. I can cook steaks to be well done ie not pink inside, without charring the outside. My meal was mediocre, I also like my food hot and served on a hot plate. I chose the fish and the dish was lacking in a sauce choice. I do not put lemon juice on fish. My family who are vegans enjoyed their meals, they were the reason we chose the Duke after looking at the menu. I would not rush back. Disappointed.

Made very welcome by the ladies looking after us and the service was excellent. A nice choice of meals which were very tasty. Prices were also good and we will definitely be back.
