Thai Pothong - Newtown

The food is the absolute best Thai I've ever eaten. The service is outstanding. The price is excellent. The only problem is that I live in Brisbane and can only come here when I'm visiting Sydney.

Really good food, excellent service. We had a great time for a friend's birthday - they brought out his dessert with a song and a little present!

Thai Pothong is always a winner. The menu offers something for everyone and the quality is always excellent (the garlic snapper is a must!). The staff are friendly and efficient and the vibe is fun.

The Thai Pothong is our favourite restaurant. The staff are always friendly and courteous. Ever helpful and kind. The staff are happy and accommodating with requests. Our birthdays are always at the restaurant and there is a joyfulness when singing the birthday song. The food is also excellent as is the decor. Always a joy. Recommended.

Amazing food, great service. It was my birthday & they had balloons at my table, I ordered the special large birthday ice cream dessert to share & about 8 staff members from the restaurant all came up to sing happy birthday & make it a special occasion for me. The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. Thank you so much!

Gear service. The waiters were always nearby and the food came very quickly. Food was brilliant and they gave us an extra chocolate at the end

Thai Pothong never fails to deliver. Consistently wonderful, delicious food and great service. BBQ pork and crispy pork belly with chinese broccoli are standouts. Also a great place to celebrate a birthday.

Don't bring a Thai girlfriend there as this restaurant is for foreigners. Can be noisy in the evening so it's not the best place for a date either. Other than that, the food was good and the prices are reasonable. Love the service and smiles.

Love this place. Great food and service. I have been coming to Thai Pothong for many years and hope to continue to do so as I have always have a great time. The noise levels will vary depending on the time of day you visit. Lunch is a very quiet affair.

We were at Pothong restaurant for the New Year'18 eve! Booked in advance, a couple of weeks before. We enjoyed the atmosphere very much! Food was excellent and well cooked, service was awesome, staff - very hospital and friendly. We also loved a little gift presented to us after the meal. It was our 2nd visit but once you've been there, you will definitely come back again and again!

I booked my birthday here just before Christmas. As I entered the restaurant, there were balloons waiting for me and the waiter showed us to our table. I recommend the Pad See Eew - the noodles were so soft (melts in my mouth) compared to any other thai restaurant I've been to. The Thai Milk teas are also very creamy and flavoursome. After we ate, the waiter cut my birthday cake and also added candles and sparklers on top. Whilst they brought the cake out, all the staff sang Happy Birthday and I felt very special. In addition, they also gave me a small gift as a birthday present. Overall, the service of the restaurant exceeded my expectations and I was very glad to celebrate my dinner here. I will definitely be back!

The food was good but not as exceptional we thought it was by reading other reviews. The restaurant is huge and with that crowd quite noisy. Nevertheless a good choice for a quick eat out.
