The food was shocking. I ended up throwing up after as the chicken wasn’t cooked properly neither was the steak. Went home after and laid in bed with killer stomach pain until I ended up throwing up.

Usually great but this time ordering and delivery of food was very slow we actually had to grab a waiter to order and a couple of our teenagers were still hungry when we left

Always good food but would love for them to put tune on the sushi platter when it’s in the pictures I know it’s expensive but that’s what I go for and not to get and then they said u have to ask or only for big table is disappointing and sounds like a location roll not a OKAMI franchise rule otherwise good food and service and will come again

Great food as always great service only thing is tables are getting closer and closer together :/ had to put my water , bag and menus on the floor cause couldn’t fit more then 1 plate on tiny table

Our family dined at OKAMI Pakenham on Saturday night. The atmosphere and decor was nice however that is where it ended. The service was extremely poor for a restaurant that was not busy. Upon seating we waited 15 minutes to be served by a waitress. We had to ask a waitress who walked by to serve us. We explained to the waitress that since it was our first time we were not familiar with the ordering process. The waitress did not explain the order process appropriately or that you could order individual portions . The waitress took the order for our food and we waited a further 20 minutes for any food to arrive. The food quality was not great. The chicken bites were dry and cold, the beef was like cardboard and the octopus bites were covered in a soup that made the dish inedible. We had to send the octopus bites back. Other dishes tried including the teriyaki skewers and fried rice lacked any seasoning. The spring rolls were akin to the frozen ones you can buy in the supermarket. The sushi however was excellent and the only redeeming quality. We believe the concept of the restaurant has potential however the quality of food is sub standard for Japanese ( it feels mass produced and lacks any authenticity) however the service is the real letdown. The wait staff were inefficient, abrupt and lacked customer service skills. There was no continuity of our waiter ( we had 4 different wait staff in 2 hours) and as a result some of the food that we ordered did not arrive or food was served that we did not order. Although it is a buffet and you pay a fixed price, there is a 10 per cent surcharge for every 200 grams of food left on the plate. This could unfairly punish diners who don’t like some of the dishes or where portion sizes have been incorrectly put through by the wait staff ( as was our case).

We think the food quality has dropped since our last visit, food was not hot as it should be. A little disappointed to be honest. Service was okay.

Some of the staff weren’t very friendly and sounded annoyed with us requesting to order more or for having to take the plates (we didn’t ask).

Very good food and the staff taking orders quickly only thing is they squished the tables so close together I heard next table also say how close do they want the tables I even had to just my bag menu and water on the floor cause there was no room for more then 2 small dishes on the table

Best service and speed we’ve had to date. Unfortunately the food quality didn’t match this time. Vegan options were perfect but the dishes for our meat eaters had poor cuts of meat and they’re other dishes didn’t meet the flavour and quality we’ve had on every other visit.
