Okami is hands down The best and friendliest restaurant in bendigo

First time diner’s, certainly won’t be our last. All waiting staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient. Male taking orders was particularly inviting. Large majority of the food was excellent. Some ingredients were supermarket frozen, two serves were a bit oily. Touch pokey, had neighbors butt in our face every time she got up. Had to lean one way to let people next to us out, then lean the other way to let people on the other side out. Understand why, but didn’t like to 2 hour limit. Not about eating more, but I’m a grazer, felt a touch rushed. The occupancy speaks for itself. Credit to you and rightfully earned. Husband was quite against going. He left super impressed and planning our next visit.

It was kind of busy so I understand how it would be difficult for front of house staff to attend to every table making multiple orders

Just won't come on a Saturday again as it was too busy. I had a big family booking to keep happy and found this very stressful. Just not enough food coming out at one time and very little sauces on the plates as well. Staff and owner did their best. I felt sorry for them as it seemed very overwhelming and not their normal routine or service standard. Food was still yummy

Food was great and fresh as always, staff seemed stressed, unfortunately I got yelled at for asking for my water after 50 minutes. And another little boy got yelled at and told to sit down when he asked about his drink. That’s enough for me not to go back.

Food was delicious! Need a better system when people are entering and paying as it is very congested and crowded. Someone needs to seat people straight away so the people traffic does not build up around the reception area. My family loved the dishes and great value

Overall it was good, but we waited for over an hour for a sushi platter that we saw the wait staff ask the kitchen about multiple times. We ended up leaving before it arrived as our time was up. Left the kids a little hungry.

Service and staff were good but had to ask for basics like wasabi, pickled ginger. The food was ok but disappointing as it was full of sugar, could hardly taste the ingredients. Should have at least give green tea at no charge. Underwhelmed.

Intially we were seated relatively promptly however it took longer than expected before we had an order taken... there weren't that many seated. Eventually one of my dishes arrived, all the while, the table of two next to us kept receiving a steady stream of dishes. I was able to order another dish after a while and that showed about 10min later....at this point, my wife still hadn't got her first dish! Although we asked where things were at, it felt like we got a "be patient". 5-10min later, my wife finally received her first dish then soon after her 2nd and 3rd while I waited for more of mine. After several attempts to get the attention of waiting staff, I was able to order two more dishes. My wife was then about to order another dish before being told to "hurry up"! ....I didn't know Bendigo had a "Karen's". We ended up leaving kind of angry and frustrated.... after waiting almost 10min to pay for what we felt we didn't get our money's worth.

Food, service everything tonight was amazing. Great to see they have some new items on their menu & changed it up a bit. We frequent Okami and we love it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first time at an Okami, we don’t have one near where we live but will certainly look for them when we travel.

This was our first time at Okami for my fiancés Birthday and the food was amazing and the staff though very busy were very polite and courteous. We will definitely be going back!

Overall Food was very good and came out fairly quickly. The eggplant was a little over cooked and almost no flavour . Staff were very good. If I can suggest I generally do like to see all employees wearing matching uniforms it looks much more professional and adds to the authenticity of the dining experience.

the lady from the entrance is not friendly i don't know why she need to raise her voice while she speaks to me, if ever i cant hear or understand what’s she’s saying she needs to repeat in a nice way just lonely because we’re both asian she supposed to be nice. she makes my day a bad day my family is not happy for what happen they treat me because it’s fathers day

Forgot part of our order(didn't even receive it) photos on menu (on 3 accounts) didn’t match the actual order, (6 items in photo received 4, and sushi plater was a third of the size of the photo) staff was lacking (was a Wednesday night so not too busy) no pricing on menu, not happy jan😡😡

The servers were friendly, observant and quick. The food was hot and tasty.
