Melba Restaurant

My friends and I had a wonderful time for Melbourne Cup lunch the food was delicious, the extra gifts were very generous. The whole day was so much fun! We would do it again next year.

Our visit was nice would have loved a gift bag like last year such a shame only a tub of cream ...

Ive been to buffets around the world. This one is not worth the price, poor overall variety and not very tasty salad options. Quite small buffett area actually. Also place wasnt busy but people were squashed in near each other on tables of two, so close ! you could here all the conversations. Not an intimate feeling at all.

We have been going to the Langham for 25years .now .we hope you stay in Melb as we think it's great value.. lunch was fab today but for the lobster it was a bit toughthe..however over all great food staff are always beautiful and very helpful it's all about the staff and the food that's what makes the Langham we love you guys looking forward to our next Lunch and afternoon tea thank you ***********regards Sheila Nolan

The service is amazing, The food is immaculate, The gentleman looking after our table was so lovely and caring. Very attentive. The only downfall was that the waitress did not know about any of the drinks and couldn’t help us. She kept going to ask the other waiters but sometimes wouldn’t come back. When asked What some of the other cocktails/mocktails were because they weren’t on the menu. Didn’t quite know either. So ended up with some drinks that were not to our liking which was quite sad because I wanted to take my fiancé on a special evening with some special drinks. I couldn’t afford to keep going through $20 per drink to find something we liked. I do understand that sometimes it can be daunting getting some questions. I hope she wasn’t to nervous.

Pricing is relatively high compared to the other buffet restaurants as November had increased pricing. As a vegetarian would prefer more hot dishes. Noise level was on the high side.

Didn’t even sit down, left immediately as unaware Melba Cup Lunch was buffet style. Opted for High Tea instead. Certainly wasn’t the experience I had planned or hoped for and the tea was served cold which was a disappointment.

Beautiful restaurant, very classy and great service. Considering it is quite old the decor has stood the test of time. A little pricey especially when dining with the whole family.

We are frequent diners at Melba. VG restaurant if you are prepared to pay. Wine list by the glass is very limited. As this is an expensive venue I regard it as over the top to make a surcharge if paying by credit card. We always pay cash.

Whilst the experience at Melba was still nice, it seems you can wear even shorts and a singlet after your workout and dine it at over $100pp!! HHmm even pubs don't allow that. Two tables away from us were 2 guys with the laptop out for business. Food was good, however for the price, the ambience was not so romantic for my husbands birthday. Have been coming for over 20 years and unlikley to return.

Everything was amazing food wise! My only negative would be that the waitress that served us was quite grumpy! We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was the first time in a couple of years that we got to enjoy a nice day out so that was disapointing, however it wouldn’t prevent me from coming back! :)

There were some foods that were really lovely but on a whole some of the hot meats were just warm and not worth the money we paid.The creme brulee was wonderful. I wouldn’t try it again

Asked for a cupcake with a candle as we were celebrating a 21st birthday. A box with a cupcake was brought out with a box of matches and candle inside the box and given to the birthday girl!! Such poor service for The Langham

Always good value, great buffet and good friendly service located at a beautiful hotel.

The food is very good, the staff are mostly friendly and polite, but the staff may not be enough, so the dessert can't find the staff refill. For example, the ice cream ran out but can't find the staff to refill.

As my first time at Melba, i had high expectation due to price. Started off at the front of the venue without realising where i had to wait to be shown our table. Took a while for service, and people behind us were greeted to their table before us. Bit odd. The food range was a bit strange. The menu served on the night felt incomplete or not thought out. The food that was offered on the night was only sub par. The venue also felt quite dated. Possibly time to renovate? If you truly want to offer one of the highest prices for buffet in Melbourne. You best match the price with the food and everything else with it.

Excellent service, great food and location. Only slightly negative comment was the close proximity of other diners. Would highly recommend!!

we were given a nice view overlooking a tin roof but had a great view of the city and portion of the river. we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. we had a table next to a young birthday party which was quite noisy and a baby there was crying out quite loudly for a very long time which was a bit uncomfortable but understandable. however we enjoyed the variety of food, service was good and pleasant surrounds.

My partner was looking forward to eating the seafood. However, we were disappointed to find that the crabs had a bitter aftertaste and that the oysters upset his stomach. Otherwise, professional service and a good experience

Disappointed with the high price of the wine. Mainly I dislike the pre-making of the Duck pancakes. I used to love them when freshly made over the 50+ visits I have made usually under my friends booking of Glen Jose. Pre-making makes the duck dry and the pancake like cardboard.

The manager was so rude and nasty , Langham was a much better restaurant before this new manager came on board , we will not going back there because of this new manager who has been tgerd for only 5 weeks and treating people like there nothing , shame on him!

Our group had an amazing time at Melba's. The food was of the highest quality and very fresh. There was a lot of choice, variety is the spice of life after all. The staff were great, very attentive to everyone's needs. I highly recommend having a dining experience at Melba's. And you must try the chocolate M&M naan bread with some ice cream on the side, absolutely delicious!!!

I'm struggling for a 'negative' but if honest, I would say the time it took to attend to people as they arrived was ridiculous. Easy fix would be to have 2-3 operators at the front to process quickly and efficiently. I noticed that at the other side 'payment' there were 4 people at desk - same attention should be placed at 'customer level' as we arrive.

Excellent location. The venue suited the special occasion. Variety and quality of food has much appeal.
