More about the restaurant: Furin Ramen
As the name suggests, Furin Ramen do one thing particularly well. That’s not to say they don’t do other things well – service is certainly friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and their drinks menu is extensive – but it’s everybody’s favourite bowl of Japanese noodle soup that brings people back to this busy spot on George Street in Ultimo. Sure, you can find all kinds of hipster fusion ramen places around Sydney that shout a lot louder, but Furin Ramen is one of the places to get the real deal, authentic Japanese ramen with emphasis on a rich, flavoursome broth rather than extravagant added ingredients. The purists won’t want to go past Furin’s miso-based pork ramen, but there is a bit of a range to explore (including a tasty vegetarian bowl) so it’s worth a few return trips.
