Ants has been a terrific find; excellent selection of tasty Chinese food & it's BYO wine! Good service & reasonably priced. Do try the dumplings & if you like spicy food you can't go past the Kong Poo Chicken. Highly recommended.
I live in Spring St, and often go with friends to Ants. This is the first time I made the booking via Quandoo, as my friends usually do the booking. I am always amazed at the wide range of food available, at very reasonable prices. As it is ByO it enables us to spend more on food! And of course the service and friendliness of the staff is better than any other restaurant in China Town. And that includes the high price ones we sometimes visit. Rest assured that we will be back! Peter
We were impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. The service was efficient and having been to many Chinese restaurants in the area Ants is one of the better ones.
Deep fried barramundi and Peking duck both excellent. Ants Roast Duck nice and meaty with much less fat under the skin than many alternatives. Thanks Maria.
We were late for our booking and that was fine! A busy, bustling restaurant pumping out fresh, fast and yummy food. If you are looking for an easy byo option in China Town, this is a great spot.
The restaurant was lacking of staff and thus forgot my last ordered dish. Ended up bring out the wrong one. They do have free tea for compensation, but still it's all about experience.
Ants always delivers. The food is exceptional and the service is fantastic. We have tried many other Asian restaurants and we always compare it back to Ants and they just don't stack up. We are now regulars at Ants and recommend it to anyone. Minister chicken is unbelievable! Spicy, sweet, sour, fiery, it so unique that I have not been able to find anything similar anywhere! It keeps us coming back for more!
Authentically Chinese, fun atmosphere. Bit chilly in the restaurant because it was a cold night, everyone kept telling people coming in to shut the door.
Great Chinese restaurant in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown. It offers a delicious selection of reasonably priced food & it's BYOW! Must try the dumplings & the Kung Po chicken; for those who like it spicy the Pungent Beef is a must. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and good service considering we were a big group and the restaurant was almost full at the time. Definitely one of the best Chinese food in Melbourne
My second time at Ants and the food was just as good this time. Loved the prawn dumplings, lemon chicken and the ants on a tree.
Excellent service and beautiful meal. Very attentive and the wine was lovely as well. Ate before the theatre and everything was perfect!! Love the honey beef!
Great restaurant they were very patient as one of our guests was caught in footy traffic so was an hour late. The food comes really quickly and I cannot speak highly enough of the Minister Chicken and the salt and pepper tofu easily my fave dishes. Easily the best restaurant in China Town and very reasonably priced. The only downside is the toilets but they are clean and functional but do need bit of an upgrade....
Great food and atmosphere. It was terrific. Food came quickly and everyone loved there meals. We went there for a 50th birthday. Would recommend this place!
Despite being almost empty the service was incredibly slow - not only to make the order but then to bring the food. We ended up spending $140 for 3 people for a pretty mediocre meal - so not as 'cheap and cheerful' as I thought it would be. I told that waitress that we needed to be out by 7.50 but we only received our food at 7.30pm and had been in the restaurant since 6.30. Pretty disappointing really. Luckily the Comedy Festival show afterwards cheered us up!! Will not be returning.
Super yummy and very affordable little place. Fast service and so busy. Food came out very fast and nothing was too much trouble. Great drink prices too!
food was very average but service was really good, we enjoyed the whole experience as it was a good spot to get together as a big group.
The dim sum are not making there, fried noodle was oily, nothing really special to impress me to go back there again after this experience.
The food at Ants Bistro was very good. We had the Roast Duck,BBQ Pork,Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, and Special Fried Rice. The only thing we found was the rice and BBQ Pork came out barely warm. The skin on the duck was so crispy and the meat very tender. It was delicious with the Hoi Sin sauce. The service from the staff was excellent. We were there for Fathers Day lunch and were the first people in,so it was nice and quiet. The décor is nothing special and is looking tired. New tables and chairs wouldn't go astray. Overall,we thought it was very good and we would go back again.
The food was delicious and it was beautifuly presented. The service was great too. Would recommend it to everyone. It was also great value for money.
