When the restaurant first opened the dishes were different from the Perth Chinese restaurants and you could tell the quality of the ingredients in the food you ordered were better compared to the other restaurants. Times have changed unfortunately. I ordered the hot & sour soup, crab fried rice, cumin lamb and seafood hotpot. All the dishes require drastic improvements and better quality ingredients to be used. Further, the chefs should looked online for some inspirations as how to make the dishes better and how to better present the food? The soup was ok but your local chinese restaurant can probably do a better job and it wont cost as much. The fried rice was missing the mud crab meat that used to be in the fried rice and some nice pieces on top of the rice. The first fried rice was more like egg fried rice, the crab must have escaped into the Swan river. The second fried rice, a bit more crab than the first one but still not the same as the 'very first time' when I had it. The cumin lamb...no cumin and the lamb was obviously fried as it had a coating of flour. I have had this dish in China before and it was so good. It either had the charred or stir fry chilli taste (not deep fried) but here it was plain. Also, the lamb is supposed to be served with mixed herbs, there was only coriander/chives and mostly stalks. What happened to the leaves of the mixed herbs? Coming to the seafood hotpot, I was so angry and annoyed but because it was for a birthday occasion, I decided not to ruin the evening. What was in the hotpot? Plenty of cheap ingredients i.e. fried thin tofu and frozen squid. Menu says the dish has local king prawn and WA scallops. Please dont lie and falsely advertise. I only saw 1/4 of a scallop. King prawns were not local but frozen non local type. If I want to put poison/chemical laden frozen, non-local food in my body, I can do that myself. When I am paying what is advertised as local then I expect to be eating delicious local fare. The wait staff are polite but there is this one girl that served us who needs training in what fine dining is. After my table had finished our soup, normally in a fine dining restaurant the crockery (in this case, the soup spoon) would be cleared with the soup bowl. What did this waitresss do? She went and placed the 'dirty'/used spoon of my dining companion back onto his chopstick-spoon holder. Luckily there was only two of us. Was she going to placed all the dirty/used spoons back if there was more people at our table? Eww, my mind shudders just thinking about it.
Excellent experience. Good service good food nice ambience a bit cold but we moved to a different table away from the windows. Overall we're happy with everything.
Food and service both brilliant. Modern Asian at its best, we'll be back. Even though restaurant was almost full we felt like we were the only table there the way they fussed over us.
Great food, efficient service and fabulous riverside location. Dim Sum was fresh and delicious especially Xiao Long Bao. Staff were friendly. Our visitors from Singapore truly enjoyed the experience.
Great service and food was delicious. The only feedback I can really give it that music was a little off putting and it would have been nice to see the view however the windows were tinted.
Very good experience with fantastic food and services, recommend people come along with family and friends, it is a very nice place for gathering. Well done!
Very good atmosphere with good view, the service was superb and the manager was very welcoming. The food was well presented and tasty. The price was a bit high but was worth every cent of it.
Fantastic food, service and location. Will be visiting again, and trying some of the other delicious things I missed out on, on the menu. Great evening.
Excellent service , brilliant food, generous serves. The quality of food is the best you’ll find in this category. We were fortunate enough to have a table outside overlooking the water, which was lovely. We could not fault a single thing. Excellent value for what you receive . We think we’ve found our new family favourite !
Classy place, really good staff and the food was Top quality! Great wine selection and a fantastic Barman Can't fault anything , we will be back again!
The service was excellent as was quality of the food and the atmosphere is first class . The best thing was there was not waiting and the lunch only took 1 hour. A great business lunch venue
The food was excellent and the service very good except no-one came to see if we wanted sweets after they gave us the menus at the end. There were four of us so it didn't really matter as only one wanted sweets. We would go back again.
One of my favourite restaurant in Perth now. Went there 4 times during my short visit to Perth, twice for lunch and twice for dinner. Food and service are excellent. Will definitely go back when I visit Perth again.
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!! Every dish we ordered was delicious and beautifully served and presented by professional, polite and very obliging staff. We booked for another family occasion as soon as we got home and are looking forward to trying diffrent options from the incredible menu!
Lovely atmosphere, spacious seating arrangement and the dimsum is devine with great varieties, served hot and well presented. Great services and attentive. Superb view with window seating.
The food was just terrible. We walked out after 2 bites. Tasteless and oily. Your local Chinese is a MUCH better option. Waste of a great venue. Will not be back.
Superb service & attentive staff. Upmarket Chinese Tim sum restaurant. First time I have visited a Chinese restaurant where the toilet are very clean & not stacked with chairs, mops & cleaning utensils! Will be back soon! Parking is $4 per hour.
Excellent place. The staff were so helpful and attentive. The foods were just amazing. They are quite different from your regular chinese restaurant. It's definitely worth the price tag.
Excellent atmosphere and view, one of the best Chinese restaurant in Perth now. Excellent food and service. Probably a bit more expensive than most of the Chinese restaurants in Perth but you get what you pay for
Nice food. Good wine recommendations. Avoid pork ribs if you don't like your meat fatty. Quieter than most chinese restaurants. $4 an hour parking is expensive
excellent experience from start to finish. Very friendly staff extremely accommodating and understanding. Special requests were also delivered! Great service , Great food. Will be back soon.
Thank you for a lovely meal enjoyed on Tuesday, 17th april. We were a table of 11 people and everyone enjoyed the food and pleasant service and of course the beautiful ambience. Of the 11 people, I was the only one who has been there a few times and from all accounts I think my friends and famlly members will certainly visit you again for yum cha. I would also like to thank our for being very obliging and thank you once again for the prompt and pleasnt service.
Overall ,the dimsum were very tasty , service is up to standard , only the beef fry kueh teow is tasteless , keep it up on that one .
Great restaurant and the food was fantastic. Had a business dinner here and the owner himself attended to us. Highly recommended to all and the food really really good!
Went for dinner and wasn't bad, maybe it was choice of food but something similar at another Chinese restaurant would be just as satisfying for less the price. for the location, night time doesn't give you any views over water either, but service was good.
It’s a good Chinese restaurant. Food is full of flavor there, and customer service is also awesome, especially for the special order cocktail. I really had a good time there.
Food was great but the service overall poor. It was like "get and forget". Ordered wine was served the first glass the rest we served ourselves. We were there for Dim Sum and ordered one dish and was told it would be ordered for us. We asked about the dish 3 times to no avail and we we decided to forget it the wife tried one more time and asked one of the staff and presto we got our dish. Lots of staff all with ear pieces but appeared disinterested in working. Next time we are going to try there for dinner and see what happens. But overall the food was good despite the service.
8 on the Point has great service and food. Best dim sum I've had in a long time. We will definitely be going back again
Food was tasty.Service was attentive and our party of 8 had a good experience overall. Allowed us the bring our own Birthday cake with no cost to cut and serve.Thankyou.
Excellent view with attentive service. The varieties of food are great and well presented. Some food are made to order and taste so fresh. Will go back again for dimsum
Everything was lovely, the location, the food was delicious and the staff delightful..We had a combination of Dim Sum and a la carte, and the wine list ...good prices
Coming down today for dimsum and it was Great foods and excellent service Definitely coming back n bring more friends and family in the future
Good food, service. Nice atmosphere, good varieities of food. Food is hot enough with nice tea. People are friendly and love the window view, will go back again for sure
Their "vegetable selections" and "tofu selections (including desert made from tofu)", were excellent. Staffs were shy but very kind. Price was reasonable. A pot of tea was so good. Coffee was not good instead but it was acceptable since they were not Italian restaurant. If credit card was available without any surcharge, it would have been more preferable (I would have rated 5 rather than 4). The view was fantastic. I would like to go there again.
I went with my family for dim sum. The service was excellent. The food was very fresh and there was a good variety. Definitely will be back again
this is an awesome experience when u can not only enjoying the view of Swan river, but also having a nice taste of traditional chinese food.
Great restaurant! Food, service, view, price. Everything is sooo good. So good that I don't want to spread the word - it's so popular already!
The service was very friendly, the ambience is superb and the dimsum very delicious. Highly recommended. We had lunch there for my husband’s birthday and we all enjoyed it.
Beautiful degustation menu starting with tempura oysters which were cooked to perfection and the fabulous food kept on rolling up to the table - credit to the kitchen, nicely timed by attentive staff, great service a lovely spot an added bonus - thoroughly enjoyed all aspects!
We had lunch here a few times for lunch - Yam Cha. The staff are just wonderful and friendly. We sat next to the window and had river view. We enjoyed the view with our delicious "Dim Sum" . Must try!
Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, AMAZING food! Prices were quite reasonable given the location and quality of the food/service. We had a lovely night dining at 8 On The Point and will definitely return.
This was our first time visit and we throughly enjoyed our evening. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. We would really recommend 8onthepoint.
Great Dim Sum and really fast service. Even ordering off the menu was fast. The beef tendon, chicken feet, tripe and steamed chicken in numbing chilli oil is the best in Perth!
A must try food such as the Buddha Garden and Chicken in Lotus Leaves and wolf berries. My family and I have been to this restaurant since last year and we will definitely come back again. One word to describe this restaurant: DELICIOUS!!
DISAPPOINTING AND EMBARRASING Spent over $200 for 3 people as expected...but did'nt expect: a) disorganised service and short cuts with the food preparation, b) 1 of 3 bowl of soup was brought 15 minutes ahead of the other 2 and the lid was taken off the bowl, by the time other soup arrives it was not hot and was 'warmed' up instead of refreshed, c) the quail eggs from pork belly dish was hard and tasteless, a guest commented it was from a tin, d) another guest commented the Abalone soup was too thin to be double boiled as claimed, the other said, msg added in the soup, e) had to re-order drink because the maitre d forgot to write the order claimed the waitress. Nice venue, have the potential for much better performance. Overall very average food at higher end pricing...much better at CANTON BAY in Mounts Bay Road Perth!
Great food, service and atmosphere. Amazing quality and attentive staff thank you for an enjoyable experience will return. Celebrating two birthdays was the perfect setting.
8 on point is a beautiful restaurant. It’s slightly more expensive but the food is good and we enjoyed our dinner. Service is attentive and friendly.
Enjoyed the range of dishes, and especially the egg tarts. For just four people, the big round table really was too big to allow for easy conversation. It was also noisy sitting right near the kitchen.
Had Dinner with friends on a week day. Food taste was good. Service was slow, could improve. But overall was good. Will come back again.
Good water front location, plenty of park lots. Very nice environment! Food was amazing delicious. Reasonable price for dim sum. We had a great time.
