Eat local at Brisbane's CBD restaurants
Sourcing local ingredients is a particular passion for many chefs at restaurants in Brisbane's CBD. The nearby Lockyer Valley is famed for the quality of its produce and is known locally as the Salad Bowl. Melons, berries, figs, tomatoes and all manner of veg grow in abundance here. The city even boasts lots of urban beehives producing some great honey for those sweet treats. Fresh local seafood is also available from Hervey Bay and South Burnett pork is justly prized. Queensland's north coast is renowned for the quality of its citrus, strawberries and pineapples, while Stanthorpe has a great reputation for its apples and quince. The 'Scenic Rim' countryside around the city is also famed for all manner of fruit, vegetables, seafood, suckling pig and lamb. With so many wonderful ingredients to choose from, it's no wonder that lots of Brisbane CBD restaurants choose to go down the local route.
